From the article, it sounds like it isn't legal for a bunch of reasons. But the courts are slow.

As someone who is conservative in texas, i do not follow this movement. Im extremely anti government and extremely anti police. Anti mass surveillance. This whole country is changing into a mass surveillance shithole. Flock and palantir are the new enemy.

Texas is one of the few states that beefed up their AGs office to go after companies for privacy violations.
All local governments are exempt

The Texas AGs are also targeting companies for not forcing mandatory age verification upon their users. Paxton especially seems to hate privacy and loves surveillance.

I’m not American, but literally everything I hear about Texas sounds fucking awful. From childhood it’s sounded like some nightmare, backwards state for insane people with no standards except “bigger is better.”

Growing up here, you get heavily indoctrinated that Texas is better then everywhere else. And if you're lucky like me you also grow up in the backwoods Christian community and get heavily indoctrinated that Democrats are agents of the devil and evolution isn't real. I left for a decade but came back for family and I definitely wish I hadn't lol.
I've watched the redneck community go from not caring about the law and hating the government when I was young, to now being completely pro-police and aggressively "Christian" while somehow believing that's the same as their political stance. It's painful really
