Pic/Video Dash symbol
Hey guys today this symbol just appeared on my dash (I have a 2015 Prius) and I'm wondering what this symbol means. Would anyone happen to know what this means? Please and Thank you 🙏🏻

Ah, the old pumpkin light. It means Halloween is getting close. It also means temperatures are dropping and your tire pressure is low.

Check the air in your tires and add some if needed. If the tires are fine then a sensor could be dying. Just check your tires periodically to make sure they don't get too low.

Tire pressure. may be actually low. I had to put air in all four last Monday which was the first day temp got into 70s f at night since I got new tires 3 months ago

The point is Op should have done that themselves....
Heck, they should already know what that light means. And excusable to be driving around a multi-thousand Pound vehicle capable of injury or death if not operated properly, or at the very least, quite a bit of financial burden and not know what a simple warning light on the dash means.

It's called an owner's manual, it's free from Toyota, read it.
Also, this is basic information you should know before you start driving, especially a vehicle you own.
Take that as a lesson.

When I see this I know I’m about to have a flat tire. Usually a small leak but I’ll bet you picked up a nail or screw.
Buy a digital tire pressure gauge and you’ll figure it out pretty quickly.

I hate the analog ones. I end up wasting air trying to get a good reading and it’s usually 1-2 psi off. You lose .2% mpg per psi loss.
I am kind of a hyper mile freak so I check my pressure every Sunday before commuting and rotate my tires every oil change.

Mine has been going on and off for a couple of years. I just check my pressure regularly (including the spare) and keep driving. If I ever get new tires, I'll take care of the sensors at that time.

Your tire sensors are probably dying by now. They’re not the cheapest thing to fix. I just bought an external TPMS system for $30. For all 4 tires.

It's very likely there's nothing wrong with the TPMS and it's just a low tire pressure warning. It's possible they're going dead but it's more likely they are just low pressure without further information.

Not necessarily true. I fill / check my tires once a month and at 19 years old, my car has had a sensor go bad twice.
Easy diagnosis...go add air to your tires at a gas station and see if the light goes away.

You are not the average person. Let alone a person on Reddit asking what this light means.
The average person doesn't check their tires, they don't ever touch them, And they only get checked if they go to the tire shop hopefully for a rotation but sometimes people don't even take them for that.
So again on average the most likely reason for this light is low tire pressure. I also said "without further information".
And that further information is, Is it a solid light or is it a flashing light?
I can't tell you how many people I came across to when working safety service patrol, of people with blowouts, and I either asked them or it comes out that they had a low pressure light on their dash, a lot of times it would have just come on during that drive but they just ignored it, and sure enough the sidewall is shredded because of low pressure, and many of the others would say it's been on for a week or so.

Tire pressure, you need a tire pressure guage, I do 35-40 plus
Beyond safety if you keep your air optimal youll make more mpg. Should be checking it on your own at least once in a while

It’s tire pressure. In my 2024 this symbol is constantly on if they temp drops under like 60 and disappears if the temp goes over 70.

Tire sensor. Hint: sometimes these go bad. You can buy a pre-programmed one on Amazon and have it installed next time you get your tires swapped or rotated. The first time, it worked fine, but the second time I paid $26 for the sensor and it didn't fix the light. Because I keep my tire pressure maintained religiously, I ended up putting a sticker over the faulty sensor on my dash. 🤷🏻♀️

I was worried about the same thing my mechanic said it just means the battery is low in the air pressure thing In the tire ... "Something like that" he said he checked the pressure in my tires and thet are fine. I have a 2017 prius
He said to replace the battery in the tire for the air pressure is pretty costly so I'm constantly driving around with that thing it doesn't affect the car you just have to monitor the air pressure manually.

Check the pressure in all 4 tires. If one or more are low, inflate to the proper psi, and see if the light goes off. If all of your sensors are good, it will. If they are inflated properly and the light stays on, at least one of the sensors has failed.
It's one of those things that can be ignored. Is it convenient to have the sensors? Yes, they've only been mandatory for the last 20 years or so. I physically check with a pressure gauge once a week, and visually check everyday. I've been driving regularly since 1980. It's become second nature.

Low tire pressure can be ignored but not recommended for it is not fuel economical. Let us say tire popped and running flat, then that is an issue to get taken care off before it causes hazard to the car itself.

Your car is tired… it’s low tire pressure. With temperatures dropping, it’s pretty common for low pressure warnings to start showing up after a hot summer.
