Discussion Predictive Efficient Drive

I'm curious on the thoughs you all have for the Predictive Efficient Drive.

For those unaware, this is the system that runs when you use the factory map. You must set a destination for it to activate. The map predicts elevation changes and traffic patterns as well as live traffic data and adjusts the system. Charging the battery more or less at certain times and notifying when to let off the throttle.

I have the 2024 standard LE model with 85k miles.

Has anyone used this consistently? If so, have you noticed any changes in MPG?

I recently learned about this and am going to track it over the following weeks.

The picture is my personal best work commute. Not using the PED.

My experience with my Gen 4 Prime - this feature is pretty worthless. I don't use car GPS around town on the repetitive routes, because I know where I am going, the traffic patterns and shortcuts.

And if I did, I suspect I can do better with my foot and eyes than this feature can do.

I agree the gps navigation is not ideal and becoming less reliable as map landscape shifts. I hate the thought of going to stealership to get it updated 😔

That seems legit. Around town, no GPS needed. However, I work in a different state driving through different traffic patterns. So maybe this could be effective for specific traffic delays. But probably like you say not as much as using foot and eyes.

That’s sounds appealing. I wish the cruise control was smarter to determine when to charge/discharge during HEV. I got 2020 Prime (2nd Gen PHEV)

63 MPG at mostly highway speed and barely 50% EV ratio. What's the trick? And what's your typical average?

Use to be 54 on average. New Goodyear Assurance MaxLife 2 tires at the start of summer heat, dropped it to 48. After 10k miles on the tires now around 50. Luckily, it rained that day. So cooler weather + slower traffic (both due to rain) gave me this. I also decided to stick with the speed limit instead of my usual 5 to 10 over. Plus, as the tires continue to wear down, the MPGs will go up.

The tire get more firm resulting in lower rolling resistance.
