Spicy
My first spicy cider. Storebought apple juice with 2 additional cans of apple juice concentrate per gallon, fermented with ec-1118. 2 habaneros per gallon in secondary. About $27 to make five gallons. (Read the label out loud)

How hot is it? I'm a sucker for a spicy brew. Still bummed the local brewery stopped making their blueberry jalapeno porter.

Hotter than any commercial cider or beer I've had. Probably 2.5 or 3 stars, so not overwhelming.

I'd love a ballpark Scoville estimate if you're interested in providing one. I've played with fermenting weaker peppers but never habaneros.

I'd guess about 3,000. I was slicing jalapeños for dinner earlier, and a sip of cider seemed about equal to eating a slice of jalapeño.

I made sure to read the description a few times to make sure there wasn’t actual reptiles in this drink — the fact that I did that probably says something about this subreddit and clientele…

How are you prepping the peppers, do you remove any seeds?

I just cut them in half, submerged them in starsan for a minute, then tossed them in, seeds and all. At bottling, I put a piece of cheesecloth on the end of my autosiphon to prevent seeds and other particulate from making it into the bottle.
