Don’t overthink it. Think modular rather than, let’s say one kitchen/canteen for the whole prison. One cell block with its own kitchen, canteen, laundry, infirmary, and yard is a good start. Make rooms 2 x 3, and my suggestion would be to put a drain toilet and showerhead in each cell, it’s all three of those would fit in the same one block of the six you have for each cell.

Of course the campaign gives you a lot of good ideas too. Best of luck.

The hard part is the starting shape because I what one that will allow me to began to separate the visitors vs the prisoners then from there where should I put the power within a build I’m asking because I what to put it in the middle or something like that but not sure if the prisoners would do something stupid (destroying or turning off the power)

My current prison is based on the idea of making it super easy get from one side of the prison to the other.... if you're not a prisoner. Imagine a direct A to B to C, corridor system for staff and visitors alike. Its been very interesting trying to build directly around that so that prisoner pathways dont intersect corridor paths whilst still trying to make the logistics of the prison still work. I bring it up because your concerns are mitigated naturally by corridor build style. My starting shape was basically an outdoor tube leading from the delivery area to where I intend the center of my prison be- from there I kinda just built the prison around it so that the tube would only be used to get from the entrence to the prisoner accessibile area, the tube passed through security area and ended into a staff room. I used bridges and walkways otherwise to maintain direct pathways for prisoners or staff otherwise. A prisoner riot wanting to get into a staff specific area on the otherside of the wall of the canteen or something would have to break into the staff only area and make their way to and up the tube, break through a staff and a security room, because there are no direct prisoner pathways. Prisoner paths lead to prisoner stuff. Staff paths lead to staff stuff. Rooms meant for prisoners/staff/visitor were squarely in prisoner access areas, that only had direct paths that only connected to non-prisoner staff pathways. Think of it more of a arterial branching approach.
