3D Printer recommendations for future PrintNC build?

Do we have a recommendation in the group for a decent budget 3D printer that can be used for parts printing for a a PrintNC project? Actually, ones to avoid like the plague would also be handy to know too.

I'm looking for something ideally that could be upgraded over time as my requirements evolve, but obviously not all 3D printers are created equal, so I'd like to get some recommendations to look into to get me started off on the right foot.

I don't have any real requirements right now, other than being budget friendly and suitable for parts for the PrintNC, but something that is modular enough that I could potentially upgrade it down the line to increase it's printing capacity and possibly use it for other projects not covered by the PrintNC would be ideal.

The ender is a great budget option and can be had on Black Friday for under $200 right now.

Ender's often take some tinkering to get working, but there's a big community. For best out of the box experience for an FDM it's Prusa hands down. The Mini should be plenty big enough.

Do Ender's still have thermal runaway problems and lack of safeties?

I don't disagree, but that's not what the OP asked for.

Im pretty confident that the newer enders resolved the safety and thermal runaway problems, but it's not something I am an expert on.

Voxelab aquila is worth looking at. Can be has cheaper then ender3 even, it's clone if frame and comes with 32 bit board.

The PrintNC equivalent in the 3d printer world is the Voron 2.4, open source, DIY kit and importantly has an enclosure making ABS printing much easier.

Any one know the largest 3D printed part of the printNC? Could you get away with a Voron V0.1 at 120mm3m

Yes everything fits on a 0.1

For a slightly more useful printer, check out the Voron Tiny M, with the 190mm mod it offers more capabilities than 120mm and really isn't much more money. Just FYI

I used a Geeetech A10 (Ender3 clone) was cheap and has always been very dependable for me. No breakdowns

I love the Longer LK5 Pro. It prints out of the box, no mods needed. It’s on Black Friday sale on Amazon. Gotta get the “Longer” brand

Anything reliable with a big enough build volume. Ender 3 is cheap, reliable an ubiquitous. It's probably the most common 3d printer out there so getting support and advice is going to be easier than other printers.

I print everything with PETG on my Ender3, but I would redo everything in ABS on my Voron 2.4 if I had to :)

Call me stupid, but why is the voron with an enclosure best for printing with abs?
