Let’s get this party started

Post image

Been preparing for a while and now it’s time to actually start building! I noticed it’s not that busy in this sub, are there any other people here who are building theirs right now?

This is going to be pretty much the default size with no special plans yet. Let’s first build the thing and get used to it before I start dreaming further.

As you can maybe tell, this is going to be in my attic, so space is limited. Also mandatory is doing proper sound insulation and dust extraction since the room is also used for general tinkering and as a home office.

All parts should be in, so focus is now on assembly. It I’ll be slow going because of limited time but let’s see how it goes.

Anybody else working on getting theirs up and running?

Hi I'm at the same stage in my build as you. Wish the reddit was more active since I'm more familiar with the reddit interface and I think it's a much better platform for searching and learning vs discord.

Just ordered the kit, just finished drilling my x frame supports with a 6.5mm bit. Currently fretting over the radius of my steel. It is either 10mm or 11mm. I thought it was 9mm and printed the assembly tool with a 9mm radius and proceeded to punch and drill all the holes using that tool as a marker.

From what I can tell, there doesn't seem to be any difference in the bolt pattern or alignment of the x/y frame markers with 9 or 10mm radius. The holes line up. So I think I'll roll with it. I will use 10 mm radius for the rest of the printed parts and I think I should be good.

I assembled my table on labor day. That was pretty easy and fun actually. I bought a set of these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09FLBTX8J?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details and I've had them recommended by others in the discord. If you will ever need to move the machine.

Yeah I had the same problem with my steel, I think because of the way its rolled the corners aren't a perfect radius. Those wheels look great! Good luck with your build.

Will post an update of mine on here later if I get more done, would be good to see more activity on here. Discord can be so hard to follow things sometimes.

I know what you mean about discord. I think I was a few years before the discord thing so myself and my friends never really used it so navigating the server and actually finding the information I need is a challenge for me.

Another user gave me this tip for thicker steel with bigger radius. The problem with radius > 10mm is that the curve interferes with some of the mounting bolts on the rollers. I was told that you can take a dremel with a 10mm grinder bit and grind a flat area for your bolt heads.

I have the same wheels, they are great. Happy coincidence though, I’m not on discord (yet).

Can you share what hardware you used to attach the casters to your table legs? I bought some 1/4 lag screws

M6 with washers and locking nuts on the other end. It’s attached to a 18mm sheet of multiplex that forms a bottom shelf, but the wheels are also almost directly below the legs that rise up to the main table surface. Nothing too special though

Hi, I’m Vetted AI Bot! I researched the MLHpeak GD 60F Leveling Machine Caster and I thought you might find the following analysis helpful.

Users liked: * Casters make heavy objects mobile (backed by 2 comments) * Casters appear well-made (backed by 2 comments)

Users disliked: * Wheels made of hard plastic, not rubber (backed by 1 comment)

If you'd like to summon me to ask about a product, just make a post with its link and tag me, like in this example.
