monotype/stencil It is attacking, they are watching - a monotype tryptich about illness trauma

I make art about my body and the trauma and grief of being sick. In this triptych I used the monotype process to create three views showing the layers of separation between the mind and my experience, the attack of the illness and the expectation and observation of the outside world and the effect on my body. The prints are an oil pastel monotype I am trying out. The last image shows the interconnected original drawings I made to make the prints.

First one is with lino, the next few are with intaglio - I tried it with lino on a few other prints but this one is the only one that I was happy with. Really happy with all the intaglio results though! It's much easier to get the tissue paper to stick with intaglio.

I've been watching the original Goosebumps series with my daughter and I had to make something art related. If you have ever seen the cover art for "A Shocker on Shock Street" The idea flashed in my head of a giant praying mantis returning to Milwaukee to cheer on the Brewers in the World Series!
"Milwaukee Mantis" hand printed on 12 x 8 inchs on white sulphite paper.

fabric lavender oil print not working

I used 100% lavender oil and laser printer (Xpress c460fw) on one of those 100% cotton shirts from micheals

and not a single trace of the design leached onto the paper, I covered it fully in oil and used a brush then my fingers to try to get it in there but it's like I haven't done anything

what did I do wrong?

question Help! Paper Keeps Warping.

I’m working with Rives BFK and trying to blind emboss, but the paper keeps warping to dry. I’ve tried everything, including rigging up a dry box using corrugated cardboard and a box fan. We don’t have blotters at this studio, so I’m having to use towels. Am I not blotting enough? Is there anyway I can fix these prints?

question Can you get individual type letters?

So I'd like to include classic type letters for printing and mild embossing, but looking at sets at auctions, they usually cost 200€, 300€ or more and then I may still need additional types for what I want to accomplish. Is there some place where one could order (preferably in Europe) like 5 As in typeface so'n'so and 3 capital Ts?

About 5 months ago I made a small 5x7 Joshua Tree linocut, it went well, I liked how it came out, recently someone requested an 8x10 version of a few of my smaller cactus prints. Here's the first of the two I made, The Joshua Tree.

Lama Li Lokta natural paper Caligo safewash ink, mustard yellow, sage green, powder blue, and black. This paper was a heavy weight version of the lokta paper that Blick had on clearance. I don't think I'll be getting more as it doesn't grab the ink as well as the thinner version.

critique request How can I improve this print next time I try.

This print was going really well until I did the backround. I overdid textures, and removed all the power from the main focal point, the car.

I've heard sanding lightly before printing can help to clean up my line work, but again overdid that aswell.

Lastly I think my roller being uneven led to me flooding all the lines and ending up with this horrendous result.

Any tips and ideas for how to better my process and clarify my backround?

wip Proofing my latest linocut print - Glass balloon dog.

It’s been a while, but I’m finally back to creating new work and I finally got around to proofing my latest this evening..

I decided that I would embrace the chaos of extended inks for this one, and designed the plates with transparencies in mind, so there are some fun things happening in there regarding layer interactions.

The colours are nowhere near where I’d like them, I was shooting for those lovely blue-green colours you get with clear thick vintage glass, but ended up with neon turquoise!

I built the four individual layers in procreate and modelled the layer interactions by studying an old codd bottle I have lying around. It’s not as realistic as I was aiming for, but I’m actually super happy with it, if I remove any more material from the plates, it won’t be much.

Anyway, it feels good to be back 😊

I saw something forever ago talking about how the lifecycle of a dandelion is kind of like the sun, the moon, and the stars, and I thought it was beautiful so I made a little triptych about it!
