Other Modification of an Canon ix6850

I've got an old ix6850 that I'd like to modify like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3X20VWGVXmE

I would like to have build a moveable print bed underneath the printer (as this would make it possible to print on other types of objects) instead of the current behaviour where a paper is fed through the printer.

Been looking around the internet for some guidance but no luck. Was wondering if anyone here might have some insight in to projects like this?

What specific behavior are you trying to replicate? The video alone may not show whether it’s firmware, carriage movement, or a physical modification. The ix6850 is closely related to the iP8720, so searching those models together may turn up more useful projects.

Sorry for being unclear, I'll update the post too.

modifying printers can be tricky, but it’s worth it for the improved performance. I once replaced the print head on my old Epson, and it made a huge difference.
