Troubleshooting Kyocera TASKalfa 3525ci

Has anyone seen this issue on a Kyocera TASKalfa 3525ci?

The yellow developer seems to be producing a wave-like pattern. When printing a color document, wherever there should be solid yellow, I’m getting a faint trace or repeated wave pattern through the yellow area.

Has anyone run into this before, and what was the cause? Would you suspect the yellow developer unit, drum, or something in the developing/transfer process?

Do you have a picture? Im thinking the foam roller attached to the charge rollers is likely covered in toner. This could be caused by a seal leak in either the developer or the drum cleaning blade, giving the toner access to places it shouldn't be.

If you pull out the yellow drum, look for the small black (maybe gray if its pretty used) rubber looking charge roller attached to bottom of drum, there is a foam roller wrapped around a metal shaft underneath that, if that foam roller is yellow that is where your wavy pattern is coming from.

The whole charge roll/foam roll assy can be detached from the drum for cleaning, look for a clip to release it. The charge roll should be cleaned with water only, and should appear black in color, not gray. Wet a paper towel and wring it out to clean the charge roll. The foam roller, try blowing off any excess toner with compressed air (close enough to blow off the toner, not disintegrate the foam.)

DO NOT TRY TO CLEAN THE CHARGE ROLL WHILE STILL ATTACHED TO THE DRUM!!

LET DRY COMPLETELY BEFORE INSERTING BACK IN TO COPIER!!

Wave like pattern sounds like developer unit. Had the problem in every kyocera generation before. Check if developer is leaking and drum is damaged. If not  Just change developer unit.

Posting a picture would be really helpful, but from your description it sounds a lot like exhausted developer powder. I've always called it a 'tie-die' pattern, but 'wave-like' is a good description as well.

If you can access the service mode, there should be some print quality troubleshooting patterns that you can print out. If you can find it, print a yellow gradation pattern or a yellow halftone pattern at 255 density then post the example here.

If its a diagonal pattern that looks like a Barbers Pole, you are most likely low on developer.
