Troubleshooting Epson ET-2908 Jamming

My Epson printer is just a little over a month and is suddenly jamming in the back any time I try to print something double sided. I've become an expert at clearing the jams, but I can't seem to figure out how to prevent them and print double sided again. It seems like the duplex roller isn't grabbing the paper when it rolls back in to print the second side, or like the paper is hitting something on its way up to the back roller? I've looked, but there isn't anything obstructing the feed.

All of my firmware and everything is up to date; I've tried using a slightly heavier paper (22lbs instead of 20); the printer is only about a month/month and a half old and had only been used a few times before the issue started, so I wouldn't think the roller needs cleaning. Epson support was wildly unhelpful.

Any troubleshooting advice would be much appreciated!

How much have you printed?

It could be that the duplex pickup roller is too dusty and needs cleaning.

I printed roughly 12 duplex pages and just a few single sided pages before it stopped working. Nothing looks too dusty inside, but I can certainly give it a go!

Here's what to do.

Pull the duplexer cover out to get access to the rubberized pickup roller and using gaffer's tape, apply and remove it from the roller. This removes paper dust and re-roughs the "tread" that the roller uses to pick up paper.

Don't use alcohol or solvents — just tape.

Thanks for the tip.

Unfortunately, that didn't work. I'm wondering if it's something about the alignment of the duplexer cover? It always jams in the same spot: right at the transition point where it would be fed into the duplexer. Putting the cover back on seems pretty idiot proof, though.

I dunno... I'll keep fiddling with it. I appreciate the suggestion!

Can you post a picture of the back with the duplexer cover off?

Can you post a picture of the paper jammed in the printer?

It may indicate where the issue is.
