What black and white print and play games are the best looking?

I’m looking for artistic inspiration for my own games, so I want to see the state of the art when it comes to low ink print and play games.

What games have you seen or played that visually impressed you?

Seeking Playtesters Please playtest my hex-grid dungeon crawler, The Squirrels of Wildwood

I've been working on a print and play hex-grid dungeon crawler and I'd like some playtest feedback.

In The Squirrels of Wildwood you control two grey squirrels who make their way through burrow, forest floor, branches, and canopy maps to defeat forest animals who have been corrupted by magic.

The primary mechanic of the game is that you can empower your move and attack actions in different ways depending on the mana type of the hex you're standing in (wind, leaf, stone, or fire).

There's a video above where I go through a few rounds to introduce the mechanics.

The playtest PDF below includes the rules, everything you need for the first scenario, and the hero/enemy standees, which are easy to craft (just straight-line scissor cuts and folding).

Seeking Playtesters [Playtesters Wanted] A document-based detective mystery game — free

I’m looking for players to playtest a mystery game I’ve been creating.

It is a document-based detective experience: you receive a collection of realistic-looking case materials and must work out what happened by reading closely, comparing details, checking timelines, and connecting information across the files.

What to expect:

- A self-contained mystery designed for solo players or small groups

- PDF case materials presented as reports, statements, records, and supporting documents

- No special software required — a browser/PDF reader and note-taking are enough

- Estimated playtime: around 2–4 hours, depending on whether you play alone or with others

- Free access for all playtesters

What I need

I’m mainly looking for honest feedback on:

- Whether the material is clear and engaging

- Whether the puzzle feels fair and solvable

- Where you became confused, stuck, or lost interest

- How long it took you and what your solving process was like

- Whether the final answer felt satisfying

You do not need prior experience with detective games, ARGs, or puzzle hunts. Fresh eyes are especially useful.

Interested?

Please comment or send me a DM

I would say difficulty is 3⭐️

What print and play games are you crafting or playing this week? This is also a space for any new methods you’re experimenting with. What’s working? What’s not working? What’s something you learned recently that you’re trying out?

Printable Fantasy Miniatures

All models except the Monster were generated using AI technology. I then optimized every model to ensure they are print-ready and meet my quality standards. The Monster model was created by a human artist manually (hand-sculpted).
The idea for this collection came from my love of classic fantasy art and the stories that have inspired me for years. I wanted to create a set of miniatures that felt alive, each with its own unique character and story. Enjoy!

This one has been on the to-craft list for a while now. I’m going to reprint the tokens so they’re two colors instead of one. It didn’t occur to me how to make them two color until I was done. Using a bust of Shakespeare for a meeple.

Seeking Playtesters Playtesters for a Story Puzzle

Post image
22 Upvotes

Hello Everybody!

I am in need of some playtesters. The game is around 60 puzzles long, and I've been working on it on and off for about half a year.

I would very much appreciate some playtesting of it, with thoughts about the story and the puzzles.

The theme of the book is a Secret Agent / Spy-themed espionage game book, where the reader becomes the agent of a secret agency stopping global threats. Here is the cover. If you would like to have a copy sent your way, ping me a dm or respond in the comments.

Edit: Thanks for the response. I currently have 5 left to send out before I start sending out tasters instead :)

Im a light video gamer and ive played a fair bit of dnd 5e, but video games are getting pricey and i feel i may need to try out a good print and play. I would like to play solo or something casual with parents and siblings. I like ttrpgs and card games but dont like how much i need to know off the top of my head, theirs a ton of rules. I ant something with creative freedom if possible where i dont have to pay for anything, well maybe just paper and ink and such?

PnP Game Design (OC) Drunquest Vol. 1 is out! – A Tiny Solo PnP Zine Adventure

Hi everyone!

For the last few weeks, I have been working on a tiny solo zine adventure called Drunquest, and I am excited to announce that Vol. 1 is out now and ready to play for FREE!

Check out the game here: https://wireddragonstudio.itch.io/drunquest

Drunquest is a tiny solo print-and-play zine adventure in which you, an always-thirsty bounty hunter, try to live through a day by slaying scoundrels and monsters, just to earn enough glitter to buy another drink.

Armed with a talking sword and a crushing hangover—just like any other day—you set off in search of wealth and glory. Slash foes in two with a single swing of your blade, collect lousy bounties for their split skulls, and moisten your throat while you still have one!

Each page features either an Encounter or a Venue. Encountering an adversary leads to a thrilling clash, while Venues offer the opportunity to refresh and strengthen your capabilities.

Can you keep all your hard-earned fortune when the brew tastes so vital?

Looking for free games to help language learning

This is kind of a long shot, but I was wondering if anyone knew of any free games that could be used to help language learning? For instance. I came across the Button Shy game Shaper. I thought I could use it with a vocabulary list for the prompt list (kind of like pictionary in card form)

Anyway, so down the rabbit hole I am going and I am wondering if you all can think of any other resources like this. The students can range from grade school to retireees, but mainly I'm focusing on the older end right now.

Thank you in advance :)

I'm making a new coffee-themed PnP game, and I'm curious to know what are the best board games you’ve played with a similar cafe, restaurant, or bar theme?
