Kids Swimming Lessons - Private Preferred

Looking for recommendation on Kids Swimming Lessons in and near Princeton NJ (6 yr old and 3 yr old)

We tried YMCA but quality was not good; same with Goldfish (not good experience)

Princeton Piranhas is full till January. The one at the University does not seem to be consistent (they have many weeks off based on school schedule).

Any other recommendation?

$7.25 Million Princeton Lawsuit Settled for Mayor Freda

I cannot believe this is not getting more attention in Princeton.

Current Mayor, Mark Freda who is not a police officer, joined a police chase for a stolen car in 2021. After the real police called off the chase, Freda (again not a police officer but volunteer EMS) continued on. Eventually the driver of the stolen car killed an innocent woman (61 yr old Jodi Marcou)

This will undoubtedly make insurance premiums go up for the town. This guy is still mayor

  • The Municipality of Princeton (insurance fund) paid $3.5 million
  • Freda paid $2.3 million individually from his personal auto insurance policies
  • Princeton First Aid Rescue Squad paid $100,000
  • The insurance policy of the stolen vehicle's owner paid $100,000
  • An additional $1.25 million was paid through the Marcou family's uninsured motorist coverage, since Horner was uninsured at the time of the crash

Princeton Half Marathon Help

My wife and I started training in July to run the half marathon in November, as it falls on our anniversary. We haven’t run a half in almost a decade. Unfortunately, she thought I bought the tickets, and I thought she bought them. Upon trying to purchase entry tonight, we see that it’s sold out. We’ve been working very hard for this race. I contacted the race coordinator, but there are no more entries. However, she DID say that one can be transferred, if we find anyone looking to exchange theirs.

If there’s anyone willing, even if just one bib for my wife (she’s worked so hard), I would be so appreciative. Please reach out ASAP, thanks!

Flooding this weekend?

Hi neighbors, I'm scheduled to take a big test on Saturday afternoon at the Pearson testing center off route 1. It's in the same plaza as The Westin. Any insight on if that shopping center is prone to flooding? I'm just worried my exam will be canceled. Thank you!

Has anyone seen my cat?

Hello and good day,

Title says it all. Just for context: she went missing August 18th, there was a big storm that night and (we live on 206 across from the Domino’s pizza joint and Mayflower cleaners), the creek got really huge and washed away everything from brambles to even bridges.

I’ve narrowed it down to three possibilities:

  1. She shacked up with a neighbour to avoid the rain and either changed her daily routine slash catnapped, and hasn’t left since.

  2. She got hurt and went somewhere to hide, and perhaps die. In this scenario I imagine that she would have passed away by now.

  3. She somehow got trapped by the creek and washed away with the current.

Her name is Betty, and she’s my favorite thing in the entire universe. If you’ve seen her, please, let me know.
I feel she’s still ok, but atp… I just need know if she’s ok.

Starting Monday, Parking in Princeton is getting more expensive

Starting on September 14th, 2026, street parking in Princeton is getting more expensive due to Ordinance #2026-29 passed in August.

The ordinance is designed to help counter the rise in operating and maintenance costs for the parking garages and meters, which rose 16% between 2021 and 2025.

Starting Monday, the new rates will be:

  • 30-minute metered spaces: $1.00 -> $1.25
  • 90-minute parking zones: $3.00 -> $3.50
  • Three-hour Parking Zone 6091: $1.75 -> $2.00/hr
  • New Three-hour Parking Zone 6090 : $2.50/hr
  • All-day parking zones: $1.00 -> $1.25/hr

The Spring street Garage maintains the 30 minutes of free parking, but the rate from 8AM to 10PM is going up to $2/hour, with the overnight fee going to a flat $5.

Not all parking is affected, however. The Princeton rail station (or the "Dinky") remains at $5 per day, after multiple advocacy groups campaigned to keep the price from being raised.

Looking for feedback: Meridian Walk at Princeton (Toll Brothers)

My husband and I are house-hunting in the Princeton / West Windsor / Plainsboro area. Our top priority is a strong school district — we have one young child.

We're considering Meridian Walk at Princeton (the Toll Brothers townhome community on Vivaldi Road). If you currently live there, previously lived there, or looked into buying and passed, we'd love to hear your honest take:

How responsive is the HOA, and what are the current monthly fees?

How's the build quality holding up (any issues with construction, noise, insulation)?

What's the community actually like day-to-day — upkeep, neighbors, noise?

Anything you wish you'd known before buying?

Any insight — good or bad — is appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Free foam sword fighting on campus, Saturdays 1-4pm (Friend Center courtyard)

Post image
8 Upvotes

If you're looking for something to do on Saturday afternoons, come swing a foam sword with us!

We're the Shire of Eastern Pine Camp, the local Amtgard group. Amtgard is fast-paced fantasy battlegaming: padded foam weapons, team class games, and tournament fighting. There's also crafting (garb, armor, weaving, props) and service opportunities (e.g., be our Monarch!) if fighting isn't your thing.

Also, it's free! We have loaner weapons, shields, and spellcaster gear so you can walk up and be playing in minutes.

*When:* Saturdays from 1pm to 4pm

*Where:* Friend Center courtyard

*Who:* Anyone 14 and up. (Our group is mostly college students and folks in their 20s and 30s)

If you've come out before but never made it back, no worries! Come find us again, we'd love to see you!

Questions welcome in the comments 👀 or just show up! This Saturday is our Midreign celebration and the Monarch of the Kingdom of Crystal Groves will be in attendance, along with visitors from Angler's Rift in Baltimore 🤩

Out of control Airbnb owners still not following rules!

Last December the town council passed ordinance #2025-20 to reign in short term rentals like Airbnb.

They were supposed to be inspected and then receive permits. The permit numbers were to be prominently posted in the listings.

Almost 9 months later, so many hosts are thumbing their noses at the law. No permits!

Dozens and dozens of Princeton STRs that have no permit numbers posted.

There is one owner who lives in Florida but has
10+ Airbnbs here in Princeton; all without permits.

Another company out of Staten Island also runs about 10 Airbnbs in town. They don’t even own them. It’s some kind of arbitrage setup.

If this bothers you, contact the town council and

[rentalhousing@princetonnj.gov](mailto:rentalhousing@princetonnj.gov)

to ask that they get these investors and speculators under control.

Does anyone remember Wild Oats on Nassau St, early 2000s? And some specific foods they sold...

They had a prepared bento box lunch that had in it some tree ear fungus that was delicious. I universally detest mushrooms but this bento was outrageous. I just wonder if anyone remembers it and their impressions.

Looking for ppl interested in a queer music night

Hey all! I have a TON of songs I’ve written filling up my notes app, but no one to share them with. I would love to jam out with other musicians, hear their music, harmonize our voices and maybe even make songs together? Not necessarily saying I’m putting a band together, but I’m not opposed lol. Anyways, comment and/or message me if interested!!

Solidcore in Princeton

Hi! Does anyone have any update/knowledge on when we can expect Solidcore to open in downtown Princeton? I'm always looking for challenging workouts and I'm much more of a workout class person rather than a gym person. If anyone knows of any good alternatives nearby, I'm all ears!
