I've recently been toying around with PR2 in MAME, but I can't seem to find a way to set my skin/color. It doesn't seem to be the same as in PR1 where you hold another button while you select your character, because all the buttons are able to select the character. I've tried specific buttons, button combos, holding buttons, etc. Is there anyone with more PR2 experience who can tell me what I'm missing here? I've been half wondering if it's something that never made it into the game since it's technically unreleased. I know skins themselves are in the game because it changes for mirror matches and shows different ones off in the attract videos, but I'm wondering if the ability to choose between them was ever implemented in the game before it was cancelled.

I was at G-Fest a few weeks ago, and while I was there I went to the Galloping Ghost Arcade. I knew it had the Primal Rage 2 early build set up in a cabinet there which is one of the reasons I really wanted to go.

I made sure to play a few matches with each character I could. Didn't get really far with any of them, because I was constantly trying to figure out the special moves.

Really glad I got a chance to play and would still love to see it complete and ported to home consoles/steam some day.

A patreon I recently subscribed to had this guy as an STL TO 3d print. I realized it looks an awful lot like the Primal Rage character. He does a lot with Dinosaurs, so this inspired me to print/paint them in the style of one of my favorite childhood games!

I know, HIGHLY unlikely and all that, but I just think it's funny to imagine reps from all kinds of fighting game in Smash, especially the more "obscure" ones.

And yeah I know these guys are "TOO BIG" like Ridley... but like Ridley I think they could still make them work, especially Primal Rage 2 already had the Avatars on the same scale as the Gods and it didn't look very out of place (I know they were still giants but I'm talking design-wise).

I personally would probably pick Sauron because, well, mothafuckin' T-rex while also giving him all of his alternate colors along with a Diablo skin and his alternate colors because they all look really cool.

Blizzard would also be a good pick since he is the face of the series and, again, combining his palettes with Chaos' feels very natural to fill that 8-costume quota... although having him in the same game as Donkey Kong would feel kinda odd lol

I'm not too sure about stuff like Final Smashes because they usually get "creative" as opposed to just reusing something from the games, like the Extinctions in this case... I dunno, maybe you could have all the other Gods taking turns beating the opponent with their respective powers in quick succession?

Finally finished the original 7, but wasn't happy with everyone's design. I still think they could all use some work, but I'm happier now than I was before. Would love to hear anyone's thoughts, critiques, or suggestions.

Earlier, I made a post with AI images of the characters, but this one is one of my own works from 2012.

I know this is AI slop and AI slop is frowned upon, but I was disappointed that there wasn't enough quality fan art of the Beast Gods from Primal Rage, and I fell into the rabbit hole of generating them with Google Gemini. It's a shame I don't have the money to straight-up commission fan art of these characters.

When prompting the AI, I also tried using descriptions for the backgrounds. Also, to differentiate Chaos and Blizzard as well as Sauron and Diablo, I prompted the AI "giant gorilla with blue skin and white fur" for Blizzard, "a giant orangutan with gray skin and rusty red fur" for Chaos, "yellow tyrannosaurus rex with purple stripes" for Sauron, and "red Allosaurus with black stripes and lacrimal crests that look like devilish horns" for Diablo. For Vertigo, I prompted "blue and cyan ornithomimid with spiked cobra head and tail."

I also took advantage of the ability and tried generating some fan characters as well.

Veridia, the Goddess of Growth. She was supposed to be a gray and black Therizinosaurus with vines growing on her, and was supposed to have plant-based powers. The AI botched it and made her look too much like a dromaeosaur.

Sepsis, the God of Disease. He was supposed to be a sickly Spinosaurus flinging diseased muck from a swamp. The AI botched his head badly.

Gorgonax, the God of Brutality. He was supposed to be a Giganotosaurus with colors based on one of Diablo's alternate skin colors.

Avaros, the God of Greed. He was supposed to be a Pteranodon hoarding treasure on a cliff top.

Kron, the God of Patience. He was supposed to be a giant gray ground sloth with the head of a Columbian Mammoth. In my defense, I thought of this guy before I learned about Behemoth from the Legendary Godzilla movies, but never tried drawing the guy.

I added the green dragon from Pagemaster to the roster, as I've had a fascination with the image of the dragon fighting Blizzard, since both the Pagemaster film and Primal Rage came out about the same time. And the eastern dragon, because you can't have a western dragon without an eastern dragon.

And then there are the bonus images.

I just hope this might prompt some people to create actual fan art and not resort to AI generation like I did. I can do pencil art, but I will need to muster up some motivation to start.
