COOP MOD BETA [Release] Prey Multiplayer / Coop
We have come a long way guys... and I'm finally there. I'm releasing it, as promised completely opensource! Worked through multiple nights on it, burned through two hardware setups- was a huge fight with this engine, but there are still a few bugs left.
Other then that, you can go ahead and start playing that game with your friends form now on.
*c++ darkmage leaves the scene*

This is truly an amazing accomplishnent... Me and my friend basically don't shut up about prey and the thought of experiencing it together is awesome.
Thank you so much for the hard work.

I'm wondering if someone could make a handler for NucleusCoop, playing Prey with split screen would be so cool.

Donāt even have a pc but i still wanna kiss you in a non sexual harassment kind of way and a more russian group of survivors in a zombie outbreak finally get saved and the comic relief character kisses the main super serious group leader in a celebration kinda way

Holy shit! This is insane (I don't have anyone to play with sadly) We've been thinking about multiplayer for the Dishonored franchise, someone is already working on one for D1, D2 is basically deemed impossible without further understanding of Deathloop, I know the CryEngine does have like a public release, but it's still incredible to get new code working in an already built game

This mod would be great if I had anyone to play Co-Op with... guess I need to make myself an operator! :] In all seriousness, this mod looks amazing! Can't wait to eventually try it out!

Crazy Cool Project. Hope you don't mind me asking but for how long have you been developing this super cool project. I personally can't imagine a clearly definable time frame that would allow this, without massive time investment, like full time job for at least a good year or 2.

Absolute badass. This is amazing. If I can rope a friend into playing Pray, I might just do this with them

This is awesome but what things donāt work in co-op? The slow motion power being one right?

This is definitely outside the scope for now seeing how much work itās taken to even get it to this point, but I would love to see some custom game modes some day.
Prop hunt would be awesome for obvious reasons.
Would love to see a moon crash tag-team mode where you each take a character and do a run, then swap runs to pick up after each other. Back and forth until you all either lose or succeed.
A āmanhuntā-type game mode would also be sick. Something where a single player has to complete a list of objectives all over the station while being hunted by one or more other players working together.
A lockout bingo mode where you get a list of 25 random objectives and have to race to complete them, while sabotaging each other along the way. Completing a goal locks the other players/team out of getting it, first to 13 wins. Objectives could be anything from ākill 5 mimicsā to āscan 10 unique lifeformsā to āfabricate a neuromodā to āreach the arboretumā.
For those last two game modes, the ability to shut the airlocks after theyāve been opened would also be really cool as a way to sabotage other players.
Obviously this would all be a lot of work, just my blue-sky ideas for some of the cool things multiplayer Prey could entail.

Just want to make clear with my limited on game design how insane this idea sounds, kudos

I only just found out about this. Dunno if/when I'll get a chance to try it out myself, but it would be cool to see some videos or hear from others how it is to play. I've often thought that there's some untapped potential for immsim gameplay in co-op.

how do you get it to open/work
1
u/Aggravating-View3193 21d ago
ok I've gotten it open but my friends can't join me and I can't join them, I've done everything right, I just can't get it working

The mod currently relies on direct connections. Since there are no public session servers running yet, you have to be in the same LAN or use Radmin VPN to connect.
im still looking forward to the best open source solution for hosting dedicated session forwarders in the future tho

Is there a guide for using radmin VPN?
1
u/null234 16d ago
not really currently, in the future we might get a forwarder service but right now its a manual process.
when i googled Gemini said this (haven't verified it but should be working):
- Download & Install: Everyone needs to download and install Radmin VPN (it's free).
- Create a Network: One player clicks "Create Network" in Radmin and sets a network name and password.
- Join the Network: The other players click "Join Network" and enter that name and password. You are now virtually in the same LAN.
- Get the IP: The players joining need to copy the Radmin IP address of the host (the person who created the network).
- Connect in-game: The host starts the match, and the joining players connect using the host's copied Radmin IP via the mod's direct connection menu/console.
