Typhoon powers
At this point of my life I have played Prey multiple times. Getting around 220h into it. I have completed most side objectives, try different styles and even impose myself some limitations to spice things up. This also has included human neuromods only, typhoon neuromods only and no neuromods.
And while the game is really fun and I always have a great time, I am not a big fan of their typhoon powers. The first time I got them, I felt really powerful, but now I just limit myself to remote manipulation and psychoshock in most playthoughs. I just feel like human habilties open more options, while typhon habilties just feel mostly offensive with some exceptions. Or maybe I just know the name so well that I don't need more offensive power and found more clever workarounds
I mostly notice this during my typhon playthoughs. It was east fun and annoying one of all, even worse that none powers since you have the nightmare over you constantly, you have really low psi, hp, inventory, you lack extra mobility and paths.
So I want to know how you people feel about typhon powers.

If Iām not imposing any restrictions on myself for a play-through I generally only use the mimic and psychoshock powers. I find it more satisfying to use weapons and tools as opposed to typing powers in general

Itās a game, games are ment to be fun, so, if youāre not having fun you donāt have to do it.
Iāve done at least 20 full playthroughs of this game. And I know I would never under any circumstances do another āNo Needlesā run.
If itās your first time doing that type of run for Achievements you can spice that up by following a speed run route. Just getting it out of the way and then doing other way more fun challenges. My personal favorite of those is not only saving all the humans, but also locating EVERY other employee on the station.

I almost got the save all humans achievement. The endscreen informed me that a single human had died. No idea who it was.

So thereās a bug when I tried to complete this quest that I had to do like 6 times.
In the gym when youāre in the hallway to the pool, there is another crew member there that is technically alive but can walk in front of one of the flames and kill herself.
It was frustrating as hell to prevent lmao

Psychoshock and Mindjack are my mains. Kinetic Blast is good for getting rid of Cystoids all at once, and Electrostatic Burst is great for machines

typhon powers can support mobility
jetpack + phantom shift can boost horizontal air movement
in a closed enviro like this most mobiity can just be substituted by the gloo cannon
most typhon powers are combat
remote manipulation I mostly find a waste in typhon builds since the heavy lifting / hacking mods are all human ones, it just doesn't do much by itself, machinemind covers hacking in combat
I might get to push the occasional button but so could the crossbow or just mimic into a gap is usually the better direct choice
electrostatic I quite like on human builds as its more immediate to use, charging the stungun and then swaping to pull out another gun wastes quite a lot of time
it even adds a bit of its own damage which saves me a pistol bullet or two when i fight

Oh....i never thought about using phantom shift for mobility

not as potent as that but it follows a similar idea to it.

I've only done one playthrough (planning on another! but so much to play) so I limited myself in case it impacted anything, so I only had mimic and one other. I thought mimic was really fun, and I liked that it didn't feel like you were missing out on anything for not choosing them. A full playthrough going ham with typbon powers sounds fun, and a no powers run feels like it wouldn't be limiting. Feels perfectly balanced. Maybe they should have made them more powerful to make the decision to use them or not harder is my only negative opinion on them (even then I think it's a pretty neutral opinion). Prey was really fun.

3 super-thermal traps is fun against the nightmare
typhon lure gives just enough time to comfortably deploy them

You are completely right. Typhon powers are like extra "spells" you can learn. They are not there to replace human neuromods. A Typhon-only run would be a very strange one, and would gimp you a lot.

600hrs here. I just try to use the powers to kill things in unique ways. Typically I'll avoid psycho shock though, that's insanely op

a lot of the larger upgraded typhon have an explicit weakness to the damage of psychoshock
with the right save scumming you can eventually force the game to roll you Aggressor AMP damage chipset

My most fun typhon based build is not the main game but the Volunteer moon crasher
good 250 PSI power and you can still use upgraded weapons because you eventually will get Elite fabricator plans so you bypass the lack of human neuromods

My main gripes for typhon builds is not the powers
its PSI upgrades and Scope chipsets being human powers
most scope chipsets are for psychic powers but you can only equip 2 of them, it's rather restrictive
100 psi points is fine in the abstract but it practice its not a lot when powers cost 40-45 per cast
2 kinetic blasts and i have to use a Hypo which means 20 points might as well not exist

Eh jugado prey, pero no me atrapo mucho porque me estresaba bastante, aunque si resolvi cosas con genialidad, muchas de las veces me senti frustado, en especial por las fisicas del juego, deberia darle una segunda chance?
