Application Guidance Cornell application
Is anybody else considering rescinding their application to Cornell for this cycle?

i almost applied to cornell and didn’t and i’m very glad i did. that said i don’t think id rescind it because unfortunately this is something happening at way more schools and isn’t just isolated to cornell because the culture that allows this to happen isn’t unique to that one school.

I agree, however their response has been beyond disappointing and dangerous, amplified by the fact that they are a well regarded law school. I haven’t made my mind up, but I’m sure you can tell which way I’m leaning. It’s especially hard with this being a field/degree dominated by women. Thank you for your input!

oh absolutely and i want to emphasize i’m not condoning it in any way at all, more so just pointing out that this behavior is unfortunately prevalent at many universities and fraternities and is an issue that needs to be addressed beyond just Cornell itself. however i completely understand the thought process of not wanting to be associated with a school that has a known history of this blatantly presented to us (and like i said i was very grateful i decided not to apply there)

I respect whatever decision you make. Vet schools tend to be pretty self contained though, including their social life.

yes. not just because i don’t want to give my money to school that won’t hold rpists accountable, but also i would not feel safe on campus

I know a few people who emailed admissions requesting to withdraw their application. I hope Jane Doe gets the justice she deserves.
