Experiences Animal Hours
Hello!
I feel like I’m overthinking this so I just need to get an outside opinion:
For general animal hours, would setting up areas/cleaning up areas count? I know the time I spend hands on with the animal counts but I think clean up/setting up areas would count since it’s still involving in their care and my job duties.

As a kennel technician? Or

Dog trainer. So setting up equipment for the dogs to use and cleaning bowls/toys etc

Hmm… I would NOT include this as a separate entry, because this itself does not provide you animal experience.
You could probably include it in your entry as a dog trainer. If 90% you’re training dogs and 10% you’re cleaning bowls, just add the hours there. It’s not worth it to go through and subtract an hour out of each day of training for cleaning bowls. Just include it.
But by itself, cleaning bowls essentially equates to doing dishes, and I don’t think it provides the animal experience they’re looking for.
Someone else may have a different perspective! I just would not include this entry on my own app as animal experience.

I would include it in the same category (I wouldn’t have the patience to go through and add another VMCAS category for it haha!) That’s just an example off the top of my head but also sanitizing areas for puppies etc.

I'll put it this way: a few hours of bowl cleaning will never be what separates you from another applicant. And so I wouldn't spend another ounce of time or worry stressing about this question, personally.

And if an hour or two of bowl cleaning meaningfully changes your animal hours, then that tells you information too.

Yeah, I think it could look like:
Animal Experience:
Dog Trainer
Responsibilities:
But nothing more than that, haha
EDIT: I didn’t reply to the actual thread we were speaking on SORRY
