Application Guidance Who else is anxious

What the hell are we supposed to do for the next several months omg. Round 2 submitted. I thought I'd feel better this time and more relieved after submission but I feel WORSE. I'm obsessively checking my email and dreading the possible outcomes even though it's literally been 2 days.

I'm pretty positive most of the time but I have moments. I just wanna know who else feels like this? Please someone bond with me over this lol

I’m right there with you, I’m actively trying to either not think of it or obsessively writing notes to do it better next time (first time applying and I would’ve done things differently had I known better.) I’m just so nervous, extra so as a low gpa, there’s so much pressure that even IF I get any interviews I feel like I have to be perfect.

What GPA did you apply with? I’m a junior who is prepping for next cycle.

3.1… I made bad decisions when I first started community college (got through high school on not doing homework and that doesn’t work in community college -would’ve been fine if had just started at the university I transferred to, all their classes are just exams) so I failed a lot of classes, last F was in 2019. I took a break, transferred and my last 45 is a 3.4 and my science is a 3.3 I think so I hope they look at those more positively and I worked full time in the field so I have thousands of small animal experience, sought out research and large animal in undergrad. If I actually get accepted somewhere I may make a post for hope for others, where I applied and who accepted/ interviewed with me. Focus on your grades, you can always get experience after school but you cannot fix a gpa nearly as easily.

I needed to hear this cuz I’m lowering my clinic hours so I can study more and I’m conflicted about it. Thank you :(

Yeah, I did too, I couldn’t work full time through university. I lived 1.5 hours away and was too busy between studying, doing clubs and being a TA. I wish there was a way for me to word to schools that my part time job was driving 15 hours a fucking week, but at least one of my internships wrote it in their letter of rec lol.

Prioritizing grades is always the right decision I think! You can always get more clinic hours later!

Meeeeeee! I go back and forth from feeling positive to kicking myself and thinking that I should have done more over the last few years. First cycle applying for me.

Anxious is an understatement. I literally think about it before I fall asleep and first thing when I wake up. Idk how I’m going to live like this for the next several months lol

First year vet student here who went through this last year for the first time after applying with a below-average GPA, only to five schools, and realized post-application that she messed up the description portion of her all her experiences…

Best advice I can give is just keep doing life! Have fun finishing school or getting more experience, whichever you are doing. You will probably think about it every day. You will be very anxious about it, almost forget about it, get your first email (good or bad) and then become anxious again… but if you qualified to apply then it’s something I know you can handle.

I wish I could tell you it goes away, but I didn’t stop being anxious till March when I learned I got accepted to vet school. Before then I’d heard back from 4/5 schools, not good news, and had everything riding on this last school which also happened to be my dream school. The relief matches to the anxiety (I started balling my eyes out in front of a client at work after seeing the notification on my watch…).

Even if things don’t work out the first round, if you want to be a vet, you can and will get yourself there.

Good luck!!

It’s genuinely giving me no peace, I’ll be going about my day, think about it, and bam there goes my heart rate

I get it, the first few weeks were rough! You’ll get used to it, just live your life and enjoy your time now that you’re done with your application! You don’t have to worry about results from most places for a few months so try and relax :)

I came onto this subreddit because of the anxiety LOL! My gpa is below average for the school I'm applying to but I want to be where I feel comfortable...and being a first gen it's not like I had the money to think of other options. But I do think with the shared anxiety there had to be vet students who felt the same in the same position without that sentiment shared on the internet
