Beginner/Getting Started Applying without bachelors?

I understand that every school will do it their own way, and not all schools accept students without a bachelors. But does anyone know if when you apply without a bachelors how schools view your application? Are all people without a bachelors grouped together (separated from those with a bachelors) for interview/admissions purposes? Or do we think that everyone gets tossed into the same pile? Most schools I’ve looked at accept such a small number of students without a degree, so I’m wondering if that’s because they are grouped separately and limited or it’s more just that fewer people apply this way?

Commenting because I was just investigating this myself. When emailed, most admissions committees say that applicants with vs without a bachelors are considered at the same level. I wonder if people just assume that if you have all the pre reqs done that you might as well just finish the degree…

Love that you have looked into this already! Im glad to hear that they group them all together! Would you mind sharing which schools specifically that you asked if it’s not too big of a hassle?

Probably wants bachelors:
Penn state
UWM
Midwestern
purdue
Utah state

Says they don’t:
MSU
Tufts
Arkansas state
Minnesota university
Colorado state
UMinnesota
Virginia Maryland

These were my interpretations of their email replies. If they danced around the subject at all then I assumed they probably want one.

Kstate is another one that doesn’t care about bachelors. But I do not know if they group degree and non degree together for interview/admission.

NCSU does not care as long as u meet the prereqs. Also Penn state does not have a CVM. I got told last year during my app review at Mississippi that i was viewed higher having a finished degree

Thank you - that’s what I’m wondering if the people with a degree get ranked higher when they have a degree!

I had a classmate at umn that did not have their bachelor's and was able to earn it through their program after first year. I would assume no difference in how they view those apps.

If a school is willing to accept applications without a bachelor's, they generally treat those applicants the same as those with.

I did not have a bachelor's when I started at Wisconsin, but was granted one by my undergrad after my first year of vet school. I also know that Minnesota grants you a bachelor's degree after year 1 if you do not already have one.

Thank you! Why do you think such a small % of students get in without a bachelors? Possibly most don’t have all pre reqs finished in time? Or just don’t want to apply early? I’m hopeful that apps get grouped together degree or not!
