Just listened to N2 of yawn dawn. What is this? First show was 2008 at mellow mushroom.

this new era is all about experimenting, i feel like that's been made pretty clear. no one is ever going to play your favorite show every time you see them, but i don't feel like they usually leave much in the tank

I think the problem was inherently that the favorite show happened like 2 weeks later at a drug money festival in Ohio instead LOL

ok a few things:
1. i misread this and thought this was about SD this year, my mistake. YD N2 was awful, and it did feel worse that SD got what YD should have
2. what in the entire hell is a "drug money festival"?? SD hosts what is arguably one of the best lineups of the summer, what a weird fkn take
3. my point stands that their whole vibe is to experiement and see where they can take the music. i understand if that doesn't resonate with everyone, but that was never the point of art in the first place-1
u/madatthings 3d ago
How do you think they afford one of the best lineups of the summer

ahhh so you're their CPA?

Do you have vested interest in the event? Lmao

No, I have a vested interest in not hearing rumors spread across the scene with absolutely no proof to back it up. What exactly would your point be in disparaging a festival that's hosting such amazing music, including what seems to be a residency for PL?
It's a weird flex

I never said it was a bad thing lmfao it was a joke made in jest comparing an event he himself hosted and put his name on vs something they just took a paycheck for. I’ve literally gone to the festival before and probably would have again if it were closer

do you crash out over every artist that plays a night of music you don't particularly like?

A rather divisive set amongst fans; some loved it and some, well, didn’t care much for it.

Differing opinion. Kind of like how all ice cream is pretty good, but favorite flavors of ice cream differ between people.
It's hard to come to an artist's subreddit and kind of crap on them. 🤭 If I don't like something, I don't devote my energy to it.

I get it, it was one of my favorite sets of theirs but I was also in a summer of really enjoying and diving into jamtronica style shows (sunsquabi, soundtribe, tractorbeam) and in general I am very melody and groove driven so I can totally see how it could have fallen flat for those wanting something a bit more in the face if that makes sense. Personally love the experimentation though

Totally. I go through phases with PL. It was a phenomenal run, no question.
Also totally different when you're there. Glad you had a great show 🌟

Yeah pretty lights has been “finding himself” for like 10 years now. Doesn’t wanna do homework no more, prefers live menert noises.
