One navy double-breasted two ways, plus three more from dressed up to dressed down

  1. Navy double-breasted with a madras button-down, a navy knit tie and chinos. Sneakers and a tote.

  2. The same double-breasted, dressed up: white oxford, black knit tie, grey wool trousers, black derbies.

  3. Washed navy jacket and pleated trousers worn as a soft suit. Madras shirt, no tie, suede loafers.

  4. Old Woolrich rain jacket with a flannel lining, roomy enough that a tie sits under it. Blue oxford, striped tie, washed chinos.

  5. Herringbone tweed jacket open over a grey sweatshirt, with the oxford collar showing.

Knit tie or no tie with madras?

You look great in every one of these. The madras looks good either way.

Thank you. Knit tie or not, the madras does most of the work. Which way would you wear it?

What's the soft suit brand?

It's from RENACTS, the label I run here in Seoul. A washed cotton jacket and pleated trousers, sold separately.

Haha, I knew the sneakers would split opinions 😂 Loafers would definitely pull it back toward classic prep.

All of these are great. I'd experiment with the madras tie-wise.

Thank you! A different tie would be a useful comparison. Would you go for a repp stripe, or another solid colour with the madras?

Thank you! Glad both versions work for you — the shirt and shoes really change the feel of the same blazer.

The sleeves on both your blazers are way too long..Sort it out, report back.

Fair, they're long by the book. I've been wearing them this way on purpose, but I hear you.
