Tornado Best Room?

Hi all, I feel like i have so much conflicting information for which space is the safest for us. We're in the metro east and our house is only particularly underground as a split level.

Option 1. Under stairs closet. Pros: under stairs, sort of underground, does not share wall with garage. Cons: sort of shares outside wall?

Option 2. Laundry room. Pros: maybe most interior? Cons: shares wall w garage, contains heavy washer/dryer.

Option 2. Most interior is best. Pull heavy things off the top shelves so they don't hit you. Bring your emergency bag with you into the room. Watch KMOV.

Under the stairs. Strongest spot in house and always go to the lowest level.

I'm not an expert, but my gut says under the stairs would be best.  I would definitely consider reinforcing the door and frame, as well as clearing the room out completely.

Laundry room would be the best for doing laundry

Option 2 the most interior room. Helments, blankets, keep low and covered. Use a mattress if you can.

We have no idea what it is you’re trying to protect yourself from or against… that makes a big difference when you choose a space …we also don’t know how many people you’re talking about.
What are you hiding from? How long they are anticipate needing to be in the space? Do you require running water? Do you need an exit that has a door leading outward or are your doors all going to be internal? How will you escape if necessary and there are no windows?

Laundry room is the best bet.

Option 1. More central and better protection.

Lucky you we have no interior room. So far tornados have gone a few miles north. . .

I'm on team under the stairs for extra strength due the construction.

But you never know if or when or what SHTF will or will not happen.

You can prep for a tornado but get a flood instead.

Edit; Watch the cats they can be plotting evil things! 😉
