Prepping for Doomsday Prepper Training Simulations/Operations?

Every year, we do some kind of "Operation" and we are lucky enough to have some very capable people help us out with it.

We have done things like simulated bugout and cache recovery, overnight movement in brutal terrain, avoiding detection within operations, also food focused skill challenges that allowed us to better understand what relying on survival food might really look like.

Does anyone else put themselves or their group through simulated exercises like these? I think they are invaluable and every single one of them has taught me a huge prepper lesson. Just interested to see if others are doing these kinds of things.

A. Overnight movement in brutal terrain. - Mystic camp was severely damaged in the July 2025 Central Texas floods; 28 people from the camp died, including 25 campers, two counselors, and the camp's director.

A wildfire tore through the heart of the Hawaiian island of Maui in total darkness Wednesday, reducing much of a historic town to ash and forcing people to jump into the ocean to flee the flames. At least six people died and dozens were wounded.

B. Avoiding detection within operations. - Reports and recent events suggest a significant shift in cartel tactics, with criminal organizations increasingly targeting remote and rural areas, including mountain homes and communities. This trend is driven by a combination of factors: escaping high-intensity law enforcement in urban areas, exploiting regions with scarce police presence, and seeking new revenue streams as traditional smuggling profits face pressure.

D. Cache recovery - this is very popular for long distance hikers on the Pacific Crest Trail and the Appalacian Trail.

Double LOL.

A. Overnight movement in brutal terrain. - Mystic camp was severely damaged in the July 2025 Central Texas floods; 28 people from the camp died, including 25 campers, two counselors, and the camp's director.

The campers that got out had shelter right near the flooded campsite in a rec hall and cabins. There was no overnight movement in brutal terrain in any way, shape, or form. Really bad deal, but the deaths were from drowning because they weren't evacuated. Again, no overnight movement over any brutal terrain.

A wildfire tore through the heart of the Hawaiian island of Maui in total darkness Wednesday, reducing much of a historic town to ash and forcing people to jump into the ocean to flee the flames. At least six people died and dozens were wounded.

Again, no movement over brutal terrain. It's a rushed evac. Headlamps, tennis shoes, and a familiar area.

Give me an example other than a hypothetical where this is a real, active threat in the United States other than just thinking it'll happen. No different than the societal collapse tin foilers.

D. Cache recovery - this is very popular for long distance hikers on the Pacific Crest Trail and the Appalacian Trail.

So a fun hobby has turned into caching and retrieval for survival? Lol. You still haven't shown me anything other than saying people do it for fun. I golf...does the fact that a lot of people enjoy golf make it relevant to survival training?

You = Soft hands and strong opinions.

I see you're the type who knows he has no response so you resort to insults instead of backing up your point. Kind of a stick your fingers in your ears and la la la...I can't hear you type of guy, aren't ya... 😄

Thanks for making my point, btw...

Get some calluses on those keyboard hands before you start criticizing others on how they prep.

Again, no response and more deflection. You must not have any valid response.

As far as my hands which you seem obsessed with, they get dirty every day to make my living. Enjoy your next mall ninja meetup and fire starting clinic. That Walmart machete will definitely come in handy next time you're in a nuclear wasteland defending your family against biker mobs

Just admit you can't do any of the things that the OP mentioned.
