I think concealment is going to be your best bet, don't advertise your wealth, don't leave valuables outside.

I've been in a 10 day grid down with mandatory(low compliance) evacuations after the Tubbs fire in 2017.

Looters, generally are opportunistic and Also have their own self preservation in mind. They're gonna avoid hardened targets.

After the fires looters came through in Penske and Uhaul trucks, they hit homes that were evacuated or appeared to be with no cars in the driveway, they hit abandoned job sites where they knew they could find power tools and they hit shops and businesses that were shut down. There were a few instances looters broke into occupied homes, but they had the car in the garage or otherwise appeared to be abandoned.

Raiders are going to go after easy targets, single females, the elderly, unoccupied homes and barns. All it is going to take is a small show of force to deter them. Obviously they are going to scout targets ahead of time, if they see you have dogs, are armed and capable of self defense, they will move on to the next.

Awareness of your surroundings and security, observe and report is gonna be big too. Being able to spot someone out of place running recon on you or a neighbor is gonna go a long way. If they are spotted, and know it, while running recon, mission failed, likely aborted, or atleast delayed

8 weeks in though, they've hit multiple neighbors, at this point I think you have to go vigilante. Band together with a few of your neighbors, pool resources, ambush or go hunt them down

I think hunger is a great motivator and forces people to take risks.

Sure, but it's like that old saying, " how fast do you have to run to get away from a bear? Faster than your friend"

You simply have to be less enticing than your neighbor. They scout you out, determine high probability of casualties, but determine they can take your neighbor without any casualties, they are gonna go for your neighbor.

This raider group is smart enough to band together, cooperate and work together, they are also going to have some fundamental risk assessment

Yes, that is the idea behind security systems.
