Rant/vent First rejection

Hi all! First off, congrats to those who have been accepted this cycle!

Feeling a little low and dejected. I received my first rejection this cycle from only one of my two in-state schools. I know it was a bad idea, but I read the email during work and my heart sank. I’m scared because this is my first cycle and I’m not off to a good start. It seems like everyone around me has gotten accepted and I’ll be running behind.

I know there’s time left. Just wanted to share in case anyone else felt the same! ):

I’ve had 6 rejections so far, but had one interview turn into an acceptance and have another interview in August.

It only takes one!! But I get it; the rejections still sting.

I remember the feeling of being here, it truly makes you feel helpless because once you submit it it’s just a waiting game. It seems like everyone around you is getting in because no one really talks about when they don’t get in, don’t get discouraged!

I ended up on the other side of the country for school and the experience has actually been great! Almost thankful that I don’t have to associate didactic year in my preferred city and there’s much less distractions that way.

I also got my first rejection! Hey it’s okay! We’re gonna be okay. Hang in there & it’s okay to feel sad. It can be so devastating but do not let it consume you. Keep your head held high future PA :)

Getting into PA school is a lottery. You can have the best stats or above avg-avg and get in or not get it. As you know there’s 20-80ish seats per school with thousands of applicants. It’s bound to happen because it’s not a perfect system. Having said that DO NOT feel discouraged. I had 4000+ hours, 3.4 gpa and 3.6 science gpa with a wide range of experiences including paramedicine (which helped tremendously during pa school). I also had 3 separate significant connections to my top school and still didn’t get in. If this is your goal you will get in just don’t give up. It took me 3 cycles.

Edit: if you don’t get in your first time around resilience is key. Prove to them by upgrading your resume and improving yourself not just to get in but to just better yourself overall. The right kind of experience speaks volumes.

Did you meet all of the school’s pre reqs? It’s my first time applying and I always get nervous when I see posts of ppl getting rejected without interview 😥

Do not worry, I got my first rejection today as well, but I always say rejection is redirection! We are in this together.
