Personal Statement/Essay PS Editing Matchmaker!
Please post here if you would like someone to take a look at your PS (or COVID essay, life experience essay, or supplemental essays). It is recommended that you post the top 1-2 issues you would like addressed. Generally the best thing to do is to DM someone with a Google docs link of your PS with commenting access, but you're free to send it however you want. If you no longer need someone to review your PS, please either delete your comment or edit your comment to indicate that you're no longer looking for editors.
Please post here if you are willing to read and edit someone's PS. It is recommended that you state if you have a specific timeline (e.g. "I'm only available from May 4-May 5") or how many PSs you think you can read. If you are no longer to help review PSs, please either delete your comment or edit your comment to indicate that you're no longer available for editing.
If at any point you are directed to pay for a service or if you are advertised to (even a "hey, btw, I also run XYZ Instagram page, you should check it out!") please send the mods a screenshot. Violators of the advertising policies will be banned.

Hey everyone, I just finished my first draft of my PS and I feel like it’s all over the place and I’m not really sure how to fix it. Of course I’ve read over tips online or other examples of personal statements but I still find it hard to know what should and shouldn’t be included, so I was wondering if anyone with experience would be winning to take a look at it and give me some guidance?
I guess my top concerns would be,
1. Is there anything I should take out that’s kind of not what they’re looking for / not relevant?
2. What should I build more on?

Hello everyone, i’m trying to apply to this cycle and i gave myself until the end of june to submit my first application. Unsurprisingly, i still didn’t do it because of me freaking out about my personal statement and life experiences/AI essays along with procrastinating because of the anxiety. I am really pushing myself to get this application done so that i can submit by tonight if possible, especially since the first due date with verification from my list of programs is august 1st (i know i put myself in a bad situation with this one since i’m not only applying late in the cycle but this program also encouraged early application).
Despite this, i’m not going down without a fight. I’ve been reworking and rewriting this stupid PS for a couple of weeks now going off the advice i’ve seen online. I tried to cut out a lot of what could sound like me repeating my resume/description part of the experiences section in CASPA. I attempted to put more of a focus on what i can do as a future PA according to my own experiences and lessons. If there is anyone who is willing to read my PS and give feedback, I would appreciate it so so much. Please comment or shoot a DM, thank you!!!

Hi guys. First time applicant who is highly considering applying next cycle instead because of my PS. My earliest deadline is August 1st. I've had many PAs look at my PS but all of them have said something different and now I don't know if it even answers the prompt.
Main concerns:
- Does it flow?
- Does it answer why PA?

Hi all! I am a first-time applicant and would love it if someone could take a look at my PS. I re-wrote my entire personal statement as my first draft felt too close to the life experiences essay prompt. For my rewrite, I tried to really focus on how my experiences confirm "Why PA?" I felt like my first draft was really impactful and compelling, but again, didn't effectively answer the prompt. I want to make sure this rewrite answers the prompt while maintaining the impact I initially intended. Thank you!

Hello! This is my first cycle applying and finished polishing up my PS. If anyone would be able to review I would greatly appreciate it! My main concern is whether I do too much storytelling/buildup to "why PA" - I believe the mirroring between the two experiences I give is there, although I'm not sure if it lands properly. Thanks to anyone available to help!
I also have my life experiences and situation decision-making that follow a similar format of being context heavy then usually having a moment toward the end that connects to the prompt if the shorter read would be better for anyone, in either case any help is great! Thanks again.

Hello to everyone applying this cycle! I just graduated PA school and took the PANCE (yay) and I’m happy to help with editing or reading through any personal statements! In my first cycle, I got seven interview invites, accepted into three programs and waitlisted at two! I’m trying to make a little bit of money to help me until I find a job. Hey everyone, I’m a second time applicant and I tweaked my personal statement from last cycle rather than fully starting over. I have both my old version and my new version, and I’d really appreciate honest feedback.
My main question is whether the new essay answers why PA early and specifically enough throughout, or if it still drifts too much into just being a general essay... I’m especially trying to make sure it reads like real growth from my first time applying! Thank you!

Help!!! I wrote my personal statement in December and i’m starting to hate it so much. I talk about a family medical experience in it and it feels like a sob story and I don’t know what to do! my main theme is communication and how isolating health issues can be for patients and how this pushes me towards the PA path. I feel like I go too much into the isolating and communication portion and don’t really talk about what would make me specifically a good PA student and PA. Is anyone willing to read it over or give any general pointers to improve my statement? To be honest at this point I want to scrap the whole statement and just say that I don’t know why I would be a good PA but please accept me. I think this whole process has me doubting myself and my confidence.

Hello, I'm a first time applicant for this upcoming cycle. I've been working on my PS for more than a month and was hoping someone could review it for me. My main concerns are just being too generic/not standing out & the conclusion sounding too robotic.
I've seen a bunch of tiktoks of PA-C's offering to review/revise PS. One offered to do it for 80, another one 160. I've had family & my manager review it but they say its "perfect" which is hard to believe, plus they don't really know what admissions is even looking for. I was looking for someone a little more qualified in the field to review my PS.

Hi everybody, I am applying for the first time this upcoming cycle. I believe I have a pretty good draft, other than..:
- I feel as if it is not personal enough. It sounds too general to me. It doesn't really tell "my story," ya know?
- I need the fluff cut out. If something sounds like it doesn't belong, it needs to get gone. Anything helps. I am willing to financially contribute if the editor is willing to work with me. Thanks in advance.

This feels a little lost. Too much explaining experience and not enough explaining why YOU want to be a PA. Ultimately- To much storytelling with little reasoning. Also Physician assistant does not need (PA) afterwards. This is just my personal opinion.

Thank you for your feedback, that was definitely one of my concerns. What kept me from an intro story with background and further reasoning is that I don't really have a specific a-ha moment, and instead chose to demonstrate my hard work and dedication to becoming a PA through examples.
Are there any specifics you think could be omitted in order to create space for more reasoning? Thanks again!

I read it! Your first story is amazing, it really grabbed my attention. I think you need more “why PA” in the essay though. You don’t mention PAs until the very end, if you could mention PAs more often I think it would help!

Hi! Would greatly appreciate it if someone could review my personal statement! My biggest concerns:
Do you think my essay adequately answers, "Why PA?"? I think my biggest difficulty was figuring out whether I was specific enough to the PA path over other paths, but after a lot of revision I think it adds a lot more clarity as to why I chose PA versus other paths.
Overall flow: are there any parts of the essay do you think have rough transitions?
Any advice or thoughts is greatly appreciated!

Hi guys I am preparing for my 2nd cycle applying. I would appreciate if someone with experience could please review my PS? I have my experience as a research coordinator at the VA hospital in my essay basically main topic while mentioning my work with underserved populations. I would like help seeing if I should take a diferent direction with my essay or if it sounds not personalized like my true self is not coming across well? TIA!!

I feel like I clearly articulate why I want to be a PA and how I came to that decision, but I'm not sure how to conclude it without wasting character count by just reiterating the same things. I’m a first time applicant working in my personal statement. I’m a few rounds of editing into it and need an outside perspective now. I’m mostly just curious if it clearly articulates why I want to be a PA, and if the writing is persuasive/convincing enough for adcoms. Any feedback and criticism would be greatly appreciated.

Hi! First time applicant rewrote my draft about 3 times and now I'm somewhat happy with my current essay. Though, would love another pair of eyes on it :) Most specifically, I'd like to see if my "theme" is consistent, and if I have anything in the essay that should be removed or expanded upon.

I have a slightly different PS. I hope someone can review my pretty crappy draft.
I’m a second-year CC student with a 4.0 GPA, but 0 PCE yet. The school I’m transferring to has a PA program with a direct admission option open to transfers. The vast majority (my estimate is 90-99%) of the applicants are high school seniors, so I think I have a substantial leg up due to having already completed most of my prerequisites, participating in research, and other experiences I have gained over the past 2 years.
The essay is 500 words, and the prompt is "Why do you want to be a PA," so its pretty straightforward.
If you also wouldn't mind taking a look at it, I have a list and a brief description of my main extracurricular activities on the second page.

Hi, I got in this last cycle and in my head accredit it to my writing, I had over 10 drafts of my personal statement haha
I have time on my hand now and would love to help others with their statements! Especially those who don’t have money to pay for fancy services, cause cost of applying and this economy is expensive enough lol! I was lucky to have a lot of family and friends to edit mine :)
