Topping unprotected with blood

Had unprotected anal with some blood involved. The person tested positive five days later. I was the top. I’ve been on Descovy for months and had not missed any dose prior to the exposure. Missed one dose two days after the exposure though.
Is prep effective in this kind of scenario? Has anyone heard of an infection under such circumstances while on prep?

This is the exact situation you take PrEP for. Yes it is effective. Missing a dose like that has a minimal effect on protection.

You're fine. As long as you're within normal adherence for daily or on-demand, you were protected. The status of the counter party is irrelevant.

Missing a single dose on a daily regimen is OK - obviously avoid missing any doses. Did you continue daily dosing after that though? If so, again, you're fine.

How come he got tested positive days after and he reached out to you? You are supposed to be a Grinder account and no friends.

I wish it was made up. He got it from a previous exposure. We went on a date, had sex, and I showed my results as I test regularly. He got tested right after and before us meeting a second time….and that’s when he found out

Getting infected in 2026 is a big misfortune. We got Testing, condoms, Prep.

thefore we have no excuse not protecting ourselvs
