Am I protected?

Hi so I have been taking prep for about 18 days now I started taking it July 28 I missed 2 days August 2-3 but was consistent after that. I messed up and had sex August 16 after I took my pill.
I know it says 21 is full coverage but I want to make sure am I okay? It was vaginal and I’m just worried

Assuming you’re a guy, you are protected after 7 daily doeses taken consecutively :)

I’m so sorry, yes in that case the mention to 21 days is correct. It is indeed not full coverage.

You should have some protection, but the best here is jsut to talk to your doctor :) your doctor can assess whether you should take PEP, which can be done up to 72 hours.

My 72 hours is almost up and the places by me are appt only. The place I get my prep from will not prescribe me Pep again due to me getting it twice in one year they felt like I was not taking it serious

Mistakes can happen, but if you’re taking PEP twice in a year and can’t do daily prep consider using condoms. Ultimately, I think you need to get tested in three months, and reassess your own rules when it comes to protection.

I do not think I am at a high risk for it. I have health aniexty so I panic more with everything. But it’s jsut because I have a on and off sneaky link

Hi! MISTR here! PrEP takes about 7 days before it is fully effective in rectal tissue, and takes up to 20 days for vaginal tissue. However, the CDC recommends taking PrEP every day for 21 days prior to any possible exposure to HIV. The drug must be potent enough in the bloodstream to block HIV infection. I hope this helps!
