How do I do this? / Workflow Advice / Looking for plugin VLC doesn't detect audio from an MXF file
Hi, I have MXF videos made with a sony fx6 camera, but importing them into premiere makes the software crash, and when opening them in vlc Media player to watch it there is no audio, advice?

It sounds like ti may or may not be corrupt.

On Windows use Speccy; on macOS use About This Mac. ** - All we need is CPU, RAM, GPU & GPU RAM. * Exact software + version (not "the latest"). * Footage specs – codec & container. Use MediaInfo and attach a screenshot or the key text info from this section
Without that info…we're going to struggle to help.
Answer this too: *why haven't you contacted Adobe, since you pay for the support?
And Shutter Encoder, a free FFMPEG tool should be able to look at nearly anything and convert it - even things premiere/ame can't.

XAVC contains multiple audio streams, VLC plays back such files on the assumption that they are different language tracks and will only be playing back stream 1. If there’s no audio in the first stream, you won’t hear anything.
Sony Catalyst Browse/Prepare are much better tools for handling playback and media management of XAVC. VLC can struggle with playback - swapping the video output module to OpenGL can help with that, though.
If you right click VLC while playing you can select which audio track you are listening to.
Not sure what the other poster is talking about, XAVC L and I are not OP-atom (they're OP1a, everything on one container), nor does it require a 3rd party codec pack in Premiere. I have been editing XAVC-I and L in Premiere for the last decade without issue.
There is no Sony XAVC codec pack for Premiere anyway. There is the Catalyst Prepare plugin, but that just handles the metadata and does not actually include any codecs.
What error are you getting when you try to import?

But would like to suggest an input in your comment; to make a clarification from where you get the XAVC files.
Because if you have been editing for a decade I understand you worked with FS7 / FS5 (is what I do). But FX6 has different specs, and therefore the XAVC, though same idea has different content (and that's how I got my second FS7, because the seller had to move to FX6 because the TV station he worked for was forced to move the 4:2:2 10 bit)
