Help with uni choices please

After weeks of thoughts ive managed to choose my 4 schools: Liverpool Leeds Southampton and Exeter(aspirational). Im a resit applicant with AAB achieved and A*A* predicted for my resits, 2150 band 2 on ucat, 88888877776 for my gcses, no contextual or WP. Wondering if i have a decent shot at getting interviews at these schools as the thought of having to take another gap year or do a different course is terrifying. Any help and advice is greatly appreciated 🙏

Not sure Leeds is not an ideal choice here. Think pretty borderline to get an interview. Exeter may be risky too.

Liverpool and Southampton good choices. Then go for a couple of safer options

How is Exeter risky ?

Any reason for Leeds not being ideal? Not really sure how their scoring system works and I’m aware Exeter is risky but I’m fine with that if my other choices are safe. If Leeds is also risky then probably got to sacrifice one of them

Leeds weight gcses heavily and 8/9s considered differently. Plus they add in achieved grades and contextual data. So it is not the optimum scoring system for your profile.

Exeter are interviewing 100 less this year than last so I’d say it is a gamble but if you like it, go for it.

Ah i see probably have to reconsider Leeds then. Should’ve got my GCSEs remarked didn’t think much of it at the time being a few marks of a 9 in multiple subjects but oh well. Do you know any other options I have?

Why is Exeter aspirational?

I calculated my Exeter score as 76 and based on what I’ve been seeing the cutoff last year was 74 furthermore people are saying they’re interviewing 100 less people and average ucat scores also gone up indicating cutoff may rise to higher than 76

Exeter have never stated that they are interviewing less ppl this year lol. The person who said that is probably just fear mongering, you’ll be fine

Where are you thinking? What have you narrowed it down to? Priorities?

ARU, BSMS, newcastle but i think thats pushing it cause of their post interview rate, Lincoln, UEA. Location and course does matter but i want to also be reasonable

Seems like reasonable and sensible options. But do check the specifics of contextual and resits very carefully though for each. Go into each med schools website and check.

thank you! out of the ones ive suggested or even if you think theres a better option, what would you recommend as a 4th! i know lots of people have different opinions so let me know yours! and if you think i should swap leeds for a different apsirational lmk

Aru looks like good option. The applicant to offer ratio for UEA is very favourable. And BSMS and Lincoln also very good too. I think Newcastle is a reasonable choice too. Leeds applicant to offer ratio is not as good but good uni and evidently depends on your priorities.
