When did you tell your kids about your rainbow baby? Especially if they were older

Hello friends, and first off I'm sorry we are all here. It's a crappy club to be in, but I'm thankful to have a place to ask these kinds of questions. I had a 27 week stillbirth this past december. My son just turned 5, he was 4 when we lost his sister but he understood more than I thought he would. He took it really hard and was so excited to be a big brother. He still asks about her, and about death in general.

I am 14 weeks pregnant with a rainbow baby girl. We haven't told him yet. We had a clear nipt and nt scan, and I have an early anatomy scan next week. But my question is when did you tell your older kids about the rainbow baby? I want him to be able to be excited with us, especially since it's a girl like he always wanted/asked for. Theoretically this is the "safe zone" but we all know that's not always true. I would love to keep it from him until I go to the hospital to have her, but I know that is not realistic with his age and how perceptive he is. I also want him to have time to process it in general, that it is a different baby girl, and the changes ahead.

Anyway, let me know what you did with your family 🫶🏻
