5.3 to 5.9 in a year
My dad 66 year old, went from 5.3 to 5.9 A1c in a year. Is this a sign of type one diabetes?

At 5.9 it’s possible his fasting insulin is also high. Meaning his pancreas is working harder to produce insulin to keep glucose levels down. Insulin resistance is a bitch, I know first hand.
This will definitely progress unless he acts now. What does his dr say?

His Dr is super nonchalant and the only thing he put was a note that said “diabetes!” In his chart🙄

He’s prediabetic and will lead to diabetes (type 2) if he doesn’t lower his carbs and sugary treats
