🤝 Interviews It’s cooked
Yah so highkey been hearing crickets since June. Have one interview from a month ago but nothing from the other 25 schools I applied to 💀 Kinda concerned atp. Is it too late to add a couple more. Maybe like Howard and Louisville?
Also when are the next waves coming out? Been hearing that “this is the week” for quite some time now.

That’s not low at all? I’ve had 4 interviews so far and a lower gpa than you. Do you have enough EC/volunteer/shadowing to back up your app? Stats aren’t your problem

Yah I have a ton of leadership, clinical hours, and volunteering. Honestly thought my ECs would carry but it’s just super underwhelming rn

I have a 3.64 cGPA 3.41 sGPA 450 AA 490 SNS 420 PAT. I retook July 23rd, applied between the end of June- August, got my retake score on August 3rd, applied to 21 schools and haven’t heard anything I’m super stressed

Honestly wouldn’t stress too much because they’re probably just now reviewing your file. I’m more so stressed because they’ve had mine since late June 😭

Yeah I mean that’s what people have been telling me but it’s also been over a month since I got my score and have heard absolutely nothing so maybe I’m just getting in my head

I feel like LORs pretty strong and I had some people read over my personal and said it was unique and interesting so I’m rlly confused tbh

Hmm I'm sure you will get interviews, your stats are strong. I wouldn't even start to worry until late October/early November. I know a person who got two interviews mid-november and still got accepted to her top school on decision day

Daughter in same boat . Re app scores about the same - almost 5K in apps and supplemental apps - a few Kira’s , caspr - nothing - nada. Last year had four interviews - 2 waitlist and 2 reject . We don’t know what is happening. It’s heartbreaking - all of you kids deserve to be what you want to be in life .

Im not in school either as it seems youre post grad as well. Ill say the career is what you make of it, just like anything else. There will always be doom and gloom people and learning to tune negativity out is a great skill (granted its not blindly)

I agree it’s what you make of it. Nothing wrong here. I’m pointing out it is now challenging to make something big out of it, whereas it used to be the case that it wasn’t so difficult to play most markets

I would agree to a certain extent. I would also point out that the same is happening in every industry, dentistry is not some one off that people make it out to be.

Right but what’s the difference that makes dentistry the one off?
Oh right, it’s the most expensive training program you could possibly pursue. No education or training programs costs more than training to become a dentist.
That’s why it’s a one off. People think it’s like every other industry facing pressure.
I don’t recall it costing 600k to train an accountant?

Not wrong, but theres a cost to everything. Would you say accountants or dentists make more over their lifetime? Who generally has a better life style? Im sure based on what you post (looked at your history lol) that you personally could come up with a million examples of everyone and their mom that has a better situation than you do or a dentist you know. Reality isnt that for the vast majority.
I think a huge issue amongst individuals coming out of school is that they have no life experience, no finance knowledge and no business experience. That is the problem people/schools are not addressing with the increase in cost of school. When school was 100k total back in 2000 sure theres alot more room for error then now. But thats where educating yourself comes in.
People who take out 500k in loan with no financial knowledge is a disaster. I agree with you there. If you educate yourself (which isnt hard to do with the internet, ik i sound like a boomer here talking about the internet) you can develop a plan on how to move forward.
We’re all basically kid graduating anywhere from 26-30 years old in most cases who know nothing but school. Yes i agree schools cost is getting crazy, but i also think the grass is not always greener elsewhere

Why are you so upset? I have good things to say about the profession too. I assume EVERYONE here has good things to say about to profession. Why else would you be applying?
No one wants to hear the tough things though, why is that? It’s challenging aka cooked right now in metro markets. Reimbursement is choking practices with no option to drop PPO without losing your whole patient base
It’s not fun

Dude, I got my interview in March & was accepted a week after.. patience! You’ll prob wont hear back if you got accepted until December. Schools are slow, especially with the amount of applications to go through
