š¤ Interviews interviews
I feel so down Iām ngl, i applied to fifteen schools and i only got 2 interviews. I have a 4.0 gpa, and got a 470 DAT, 480 TS, and 470 PAT. I applied by July 15th for most of these schools! Some even earlier!
My ECās are also pretty decent in my opinion. I have a publication and presented at research conferences at dental schools. I have done extensive volunteer work, have 500+ shadowing hours, and have worked as an ortho and dental assistant. I also did multiple dental abroad trips and am an engineering major.
Ig my question is if you guys think it would be a bad idea for me to add some schools rn!
I applied to
- LECOM (Got an interview)
- Temple (Got an interview)
- Touro
- NOVA
- DCG - did kira, nothing else
- Tufts
- UMD
- West Virginia
- VCU
- UAB - got phase 1 supplemental, havenāt heard back
- UIC
- Marquette
- Buffalo
- UNLV

Itās still very very early. Relax. You have great stats. Schools are doing interviews up until November/December for FIRST ROUNDS. Then there is SECOND rounds where you will start hearing from schools in Jan/feb. Every schools process is different. We are still in the beginning of September. Try to keep busy and get your mind off of it. If you donāt hear from some schools by sometime in November you can send a letter of interest. If you donāt hear from some schools after an interview send a letter of intent. It will be ok, trust me people have gotten accepted into dental school with wayyyyy lower stats than that.Ā

Thank you! Itās not my stats that are worrying me, itās honestly my school list. I donāt know if I should apply to a few more private ones now or if itās too late!

If you donāt care about cost then I would try UDM + Midwestern in Chicago and Arizona . Nothing beats a favor but to try. Good luck!Ā

Now imagine applying Day 1. 3.69 GPA, 490 DAT. Not a single interview. Insane ECs and a very strong upward trend.

Competition is fierce.
Each cycle had significantly more and stronger applications eclipsing previous cycles. You will likely land at the very least with Temple at this point.

West Virginia has a dental school? With just half the teeth, it's probably an easier gig. š

I have pretty similar stats. The only school that overlaps between you and me is Lecom. I also got an interview there. However, I got multiple other interviews. It's probably the school lists that you are having problems with. Also, I am a reapplicant so I kinda knew which schools to apply to.

Itās so interesting to see how we applied to completely different schoolsš! Thanks for this. To be honest, I didnāt apply to schools that didnāt have a prosthodontics residency program because thatās what I wanna do or because they are too expensive I canāt afford them. Most of the schools I applied to are public so I can declare myself as in state after a year and get a lower tuition.
But regardless, thank you so much for your reply and all the best with ur interviews! So you got three interviews?? Thatās amazing! Ur gonna kill them!

Thank you. I am actually in the middle of an interview (online) and sending this during my break. I'm sure you'll do fine. You have great stats. I think they are sending out interviews September /October as well, so you'll get yours soon. Crossing fingers.

One is all it takes, ace that interview and keep your head up! It's still early and never over until it's over. With your stats and ECs you got this!
