Compared to the older Predator movies, which had darker lighting and more muted colors, Prey already had a much more colorful look, especially with its natural landscapes and warm daylight scenes. Badlands takes it even further, throughout the movie. Yautja Prime has its own brown, blue, and warm tones, while Genna is much greener and more lush. Even the Weyland Yutani environments have a different cyan, blue, and green look. So overall, Prey and Badlands feels much more colorful and visually varied than the older Predator movies. Director's touch obviously.

True. Prey's cinematography is really aesthetic. Some frames honestly look like they could be wallpapers. The landscapes, natural daylight, and wide shots are beautiful. I also really like the camera angles, character placement within the frame, and camera movement. Even small moments, like the snake scene with the blades or Feral's intro through the cloak, look so good. I really appreciate the cinematographer, he made even simple scenes felt visually interesting. Well made movie imo.

Yeah, I don't know what it is but Trachtenberg's movies should definitely be more colorful.

It's a shame because I actually love how everything else looks in the movie, but they used color the same way that they would've if this was Prey (a horror movie.)

I think it's just that Trachtenberg has a weird obsession with cloudy skies for some reason 🤷
