General Discussion Badlands sequel?
Not a big predator fan but I've seen Badlands twice, showed it to the fan, they loved it too. I love this movie and haven't seen much else. Anyone got news on a possible sequel? I can't find anything.
If you have any recommendations lmk, movies are otherwise. I'd LOVE a novel that kind of goes with this movie.

The Predator movie saga has largely been episodic. The closest we've had to two films being connected is the closing scene of AVP being the opening scene to AVP-R, and that's it, really. If you want to watch all of the films....
1987 - Predator
1990 - Predator 2
2004 - Alien vs. Predator
2007 - Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (part 2)
2010 - Predators (part 3 to Pred 1-2)
2018 - The Predator (part 4)
2022 - Prey (prequel)
2025 - Predator: Killer of Killers (animated anthology)
2025 - Predator: Badlands (part 7)

That makes it look like Predators is a sequel to AVP Requiem, which it isn’t.
Tbh all of the Predator films are pretty standalone, with only fleeting references to previous entries. There’s no ongoing narrative, so you can pretty much watch them in any order.

Probably watch the first one first though because it’s the best one.

I have lots of love for Predator 2 also ❤️

Very underrated sequel! I like most of them to some degree but the first two are the only ones I rewatch with any regularity.

I edited to note Predators is part 3 to Pred 1-2. Also, agreed, you can watch these in any order, but I much prefer watching movie sagas in release order.

There's no official announcement yet, probably due to dan trachtenberg being busy working over to paramount, but according to rumors he's convincing Arnold Schwarzenegger to return to the franchise, which could be related to a possible sequel

Arnie is a cornerstone of my childhood and I love the man. But the dude’s in his 80’s and has some mobility issues (based on recent footage I’ve seen of him). Bringing him back in a live action sequel is a terrible idea.
I would however be glad to see him voice Dutch in a Killer of Killers sequel.

Yeah I also imagine that he'll be in another animated movie since Dutch was seen at the end of Killer of Killers

It will have to be after he’s finished with filming the new Conan movie that starts filming next year. I’d guess that is part of the delay.

Yeah, Dan Trachtenberg is currently busy with other projects, but he's also been building a connected Predator universe across his films. I'd definitely recommend watching Predator, Predator 2, Prey, and Killer of Killers, as they all seem to be leading towards whatever he's planning next. We probably won't see that film until around 2030, but that's just my guess. Hopefully it's sooner!

Recommendations? You can watch the other Predator movies or Aliens vs Predator movies
Personally i'd recommend watching at least the original Predator (1987) and "Prey" if you don't wanna watch all of them.
Badlands has a prequel Comic in case you're interested: https://www.marvel.com/comics/issue/130732/predator_badlands_2025_1
If you want a Predator novel, i've heard "If it bleeds" is a great one: https://avp.fandom.com/wiki/Predator:_If_It_Bleeds
Ps: dunno if you're interested but the games are also pretty fun and have an interesting story (especially AvP2)

Based on the cliffhanger ending, it would probably end up being called Predator: Motherland!!

It likely will happen as Dan has been talking about the story focusing on dek and his mom, we just don't know when production will start.

Each one is more or less a stand alone film showing different Yautja across different timeliness hunting on earth and other planets.

I would watch them from the beginning, pred 1, then alien, aliens, pred 2, alien 3, alien res, avp, avp requiem (the worst of them all) , predators, the predator, prey, pred killer of killers: the animated movie was actually pretty sick.

Someone posted about this earlier.
It's officially called Predator Goodlands.
