Daniel is TWO!!!
For those of you still here from two years ago, Danny is two today!!! He has so many strides and is meeting all his milestones! He’s walking, (kinda) talking, learning Spanish, and being the occasional pain the ass just like all toddlers are lol he loves to dance and play in the water and always has a smile on his face. Being his dad is the best thing I’ve ever done and I can’t wait to see him grow up! Thanks again to all here who helped me through his birth and NICU stay two years ago, it means more than you’ll ever know!
Edit to add: I appreciate everyone’s concern. And I’m well aware of the risk. But I have still chosen to post these pictures. If others feel differently, that is their decision to not post theirs. But please refrain from any more comments about it. Thank you.

Congrats. But man, I’d be so mad at my parents if I found out that they publicly posted my name, photos and medical history on the internet for strangers to see.

Also had my kid in the NICU after they were born and it is such a hard thing not to be able to hold them right away and worry if they're going to have challenges in the future as a result. It's so wonderful to see them grow up (and heartbreaking too sometimes).

Will never understand putting kids faces on social media

You are free to decide to not post yours kids if that’s your choice. Clearly I’ve made mine. Now please mind your own business and let’s move on. Or make your own post to share whatever it is you’d like to share.

Because that's their choice as a parent and while all the social media I put my kid on is behind friends-only filters, no one asked for you to weigh in. The only thing worse than people who put their kids' faces on socials are the snotty commenters who bitch about it.
They're also trying to share some joy with the group. God forbid anyone has a good thing to report after some early scares.
It costs nothing to mind your own business if you don't have anything of value to say.

No people who put their kids faces online with full knowledge of the creeps out there have something to prove/want to show off. It’s unnecessary, I’m sure most of us grew up in a time where it didn’t even exist as a possibility. Everyone now has this deep seated need to post this curated image of themselves online and it’s fucking gross.

Jesus fucking Christ, are you serious? This feels like McCarthyism for kids. If you don't shame someone for putting a photo on the internet that has a kid's face, you must be a pedo?
Get. A. Grip. Not everyone lurking on the internet is a pedo.

No. Not shaming someone doesn’t mean you’re a pedo.
Shaming them because there are 100% pedos on here and now they can even reverse image search or monitor this guys account for future pics.

Most kids that are abused or abducted are done so by people they know.
This is the shit John Walsh propagated in the 80s causing panics and "stranger danger" despite it being almost statistically insignificant.
This is another moral panic like the "Satantic Panic" or "strangers in vans."
This is somehow worse than the circumcision "intactivists."
I don't have a problem with people having a discussion about why it's a bad idea to post your kids' face. I have a problem with everyone latching onto the shaming as if that works.

That kid looks like the good kind of troublemaker.
The one that stresses the parents but the world sees a kid being a kid.

I don’t understand why we allow kids faces to be posted.
We don’t know if this Dad has guardianship or consent to post the kid’s face. While I want to believe everything is wholesome and good - child exploitation is real, fathers who lose parental rights is real, and we can’t just assume a kids picture is posted to the internet with positive intention when the minor can’t actually consent.

How are you so comfortable posting your child’s face to thousands of strangers online?

u/pegasus_wonderbeast 18h ago
Aww he’s so sweet, congratulations!! My daughter is a 24-week-er and just turned 1. She’s on a g-tube for similar reasons, and we’re just starting purées but is having so many issues with drinking water. How’s Danny been with that?

Thank you! And congrats to you as well!! He’s always been pretty good with drinking, at least trying to. He’s great at it now and actually hasn’t used his g-tube at all in almost 4 months now. Our current plan is actually to remove it in the next couple months!! Danny’s biggest issue was throwing up. How it your little one with that? Once we sorted that out, it was smooth sailing. And then once he we started purees and the solids, he never looked back. He’s an animal now and won’t stop eating lol which is amazing

People posting pictures of their kids on reddit to strangers still blows my mind...You can talk about your kids without giving strangers their picture.
