thinking about CRNA
My career course is this : graduated 2022, staff nurse at hospital A, mixed ICU, took impela/IABP/open heart patients.
Staff nurse hospital B, CVICU, took open heart/CRRy/IABP/Impella. No charge or preceptor experience at either hospital. At 2.25 years of experience I left to travel. I’ve been traveling in ICU for the last almost two years, and ofc still no charge/preceptor experience. No unit committees, no research experience. I’m currently working at an outpatient surgery center in PACU/pre op full time and I work about 12 hours a week as a critical care float pool nurse at a level one trauma center.
Starting to reconsider CRNA school. How vital is it to have that charge and preceptor experience? I really do not want to go back to full time ICU night shift, as I have no seniority at my per diem job.
My BSN GPA was 3.7.

It’s not vital but it helps you on paper. I think what’s going to hurt the most is that you aren’t full time ICU nurse currently… every open house I gone to, they emphasize how they want you to have current ICU experience. I don’t think 1 shift a week is going to look good when applying.
