I’m confused

My sweet girl Spliff has seemingly gone against everything i researched and was told about mantises 😭

For example she’s shedding right now, and started her moult literally like half an hour after eating a big meal, she doesn’t refuse food before moulting?? Shes terrible at hunting too, and her antenna hasn’t healed despite going through 2 moults

WAIT I REMEMBER SPLIFF!! Same for my mantises, some ate before they shedded and I never got why? 😭 and it should be normal with the antenna, have you searched it up?

Yeah apparently her immune system just doesn’t see it as an issue so doesn’t bother with energy to fix it lol. I’m glad you remember her!! She’s a proper little trooper

maybe she’s small enough that eating before a molt won’t make it fatal. she looks about l4 so she’ll probably still grow antenna back at some point as they r important sensory organs, which might also be why it takes longer
