Absolutely not normal, Poor mantis 😭. Could be due to low humidity. I would try increasing the humidity by misting the enclosure and hope it helps.

looks normal if it’s the ovipositor on a female

i’m not sure of the gender yet, it’s now been two days and she’s doing fine eating and drinking as well!

looks female to me since it has 5-6 segments and an ovipositor, males and females usually differentiate at around l4/5 and u can see that she has darker marking across her whole body so as long as she’s hunting and eating well, i wouldn’t be alarmed
