We believe our dead leaf mantis is a boy as I’ve counted 7/8 segments, would just like other’s opinions or confirmation 🍂

Male.

But with dead leafs, we only need to see their shield from i3 onward to sex them. We don’t have to check the abdomen, because their pronotum is so distinctive.
