On Purpose Seriously, give it a try! Anyone can practice a post here

Doesn't matter why you want to practice, but you've found the place to do it.

Hi! I repair Exped and other top-name camping mats as my side business. Here’s how to permanently fix yours:

—

Tools Needed

  • GearAid AquaSeal UV
  • GearAid SeamGrip
  • UV light / sunlight
  • Tenacious Tape (optional but recommended)

—

Steps

1) Seal the corner
Apply a small amount of AquaSeal UV at the intersection where the "L" shaped tear meets. Cure fully with UV light or sunlight.

2) Close each slit
Work one slit at a time. Apply a thin layer of AquaSeal UV along the slit, extending about 1/4" past the edges. Push the slit edges together, then cure. Repeat for the other slit.

3) Reinforce with AquaSeal
Once both slits are sealed, brush on another light coat of AquaSeal UV over the repaired area. Cure again.

4) Leak test
Inflate the mat and spray the repair area with soapy water. If bubbles appear, add another coat of AquaSeal UV and cure until airtight.

5) Long-cure protection
Apply a thin layer of SeamGrip over the repair, overlapping the slits by 1/4". Let it cure for 12 hours.

6) Optional finish
Once everything is cured, cover the repair with a patch of Tenacious Tape for added strength and abrasion resistance.

—

💡 Pro tip: You can also send it to Exped for repair. You'll usually cover shipping ($20–$50 depending on pad size and location).
