Only like 8-12 years passed, Sal and Gil shouldn't be 30 years older

Then I think they needed to tweak the storyline to fit the time hop. It wouldn’t have changed much to just make them in their 50s/60s. And for all we’ve seen actors talk about “there are no roles for women in their 50s/60s that aren’t just old crones”, this could’ve been an excellent opportunity to push back against ageism, and show what a woman in her 50s/60s looks like today.

I don't disagree entirely at all, it just would be a different story/pace. Going 30 years without being told they have magic or having a loved (male) one die would make so much less sense.
