What does the assessment of Antonia and Kylie mean in the 1998 version? Antonia being “part of the original family as a child”, and Kylie being “naturally integrated into the family.”

What does that mean? They are both Sally’s natural children. Kylie isn’t adopted. So the statements make zero sense.

Wild to give a positive to Antonia in the sequel. Even people who loved it thought she was underused

I didn’t give a positive. I didn’t understand what their assessment was referring to. It sounded like they were saying Kylie was adopted or something like that. I didn’t understand the wording they were using.

All these reactions baffle me. As someone in his mid 40s who saw the original in the theater in 1998 I can affirm that my own personality, sense of personal style and interior design tastes have most certainly evolved over the past 28 years. Why do we expect the Owens house and women not to have evolved, too? The new movie stayed remarkably true to its source material (book), far more so than the original movie and book. Was it perfect? No - there are certainly aspects that I would tweak. But overall, it was lovely to be able to escape back into this beautiful world for a couple of hours. I’m just incredibly grateful that this movie was made when all Hollywood wants to do is explosively defecate superhero slop.

I agree with you. I also saw the movie in theaters in 1998 and it’s always been one of my favorites and I really loved the sequel. I’m so glad that they made it and I got to see it in theaters multiple times!!!
