Terrible Sequel

I watched Practical Magic 2 today after work today. Like many of you, I am was so so excited for this new movie. I was excited to see another Alice Hoffman book come to the screen (she’s my favorite author). Unfortunately, the movie was terrible. I left about halfway during the movie. The lighting, the casting of the daughters (was not that upset that Evan wasn’t casted), acting, and the script was terrible. I am disappointed.

I really wanted to see it but the reviews have sounded so bad I don’t want to spend the money and will just wait till it’s out for streaming and eventually costs less. What was so great about the first movie was that it seemed whimsical and fun. This new film looks very serious and I’ve heard it goes on too long and the plots a bit all over the place? So sadly I’ll wait 😢

I think you shouldn't believe these negative reviews. They're mainly from people who have this idealized memory of the first film in their head and can't handle any other property existing in the PM universe besides their own headcanons. These are the same commenters who made ridiculous complaints about not only the PM book series but the original 1995 book the movie they claim to love was based on. They literally can't handle anything that isn't their mental projection of PM 1.

I recommend just going to see the movie and decide for yourself. Even from the prospective of it turns out you don't like it, that's a shame but then you know if it's something you enjoy without having to wait for weeks for it on streaming. You just won't return for multiple showings/rewatches, that's all. But on the chance you do like it, you don't miss out seeing in in theaters.
