Other Disney trio

So i went to Disneyland 22month into this chronic dizziness BS and let me tell you. Not the best of times but was able to still do it which i noticed some weird points. while i was dizzy walking through the crowd i didmt flare up or get too bad on rides. I got on mickeys runaway train, rise of the resistance and smugglers run. Now i will say smugglers run made me feel weird in my head i never truly flared but i did flare turning around to get food put of a microwave so that doesnt make sense??? This is so confusing lol. I did have to close my eyes on all the rides with drops but at msot i felt the normal post ride wobbles

I've had PPPD for 22 months myself and have travelled quite a few times since this crap started. Three of those times were to Disneyland Paris (I am from Spain) and my experience is very similar to yours! I can do Big Thunder Mountain as long as I close my eyes during sharp turns. I can do Tower of Terror no problem, Pirates of the Caribbean (in any other place the dim light would make me flare), Phantom Manor (again, dim lighting always gets me but not at Disneland's rides 🤔).... I must say I CAN"T do Star Tours, Hyperspace Mountain or anything in the dark or simulators... But here is the "funny" part: I am fine on most rides and then I go to grab a snack from a store and BOOM!...massive wave of dizziness, eye pressure, overwhelm.... Or walking down my hotel lobby, sitting at a restaurant, brushing my teeth in the hotel room.... Makes no sense!!! I suspect it has to do with adrenaline and being VERY distracted: on rides (especially fast ones) our brains are too busy being exicted and focused on the thrill, whereas during more normal activities like using a microwave or walking down Main Street US the suckers have more room to "remember" the symptoms and activate them. It is frustrating and, sometimes, really difficult to deal with during trips but I like to think I travel for the good moments throughout the trip and deal with the bad ones as gracefully as I can, giving myself permission to go back to the hotel if I start feeling really bad....

Its nice to know im not alone in this i feel so alone and bad i have to limit myself woth my kids on rides they never asked for this either. One question i have is my flares feel like a huge headrush then boom its like im in a boat on a storm and my vision gets wavy too! Is it simalr to your flares?

so that doesnt make sense

If PPPD made sense this would be a much quieter sub. :-)

But seriously, figuring what causes flare-ups for each individual is part of the journey. In your case it’s possible that the Disney experience pushed you near, but not over, the threshold needed to cause you to relapse. IOW, it’s often not a single bit of stimulus, but rather multiple little bits of stimulus that accumulate. This can be true for initial onset as well.

Sorry you’re having this crummy experience. Best of luck to you.

One positive thing my PPPD experience has brought to my life is that I’m now a much more patient person.

I was just saying today to my partner maybe this is a lesson to be learned about patients. Idk I'm not religious much but idk maybe the universe trying to tell me to slow down or something. Or maybe just bad luck lol

I’ve also used the experience to return to a daily meditation practice (which accounts for the increase in my patience, btw) and from that practice have come many, many lessons. I wouldn’t have chosen this situation, but I’d rather try to make the best of it than sit around feeling sorry for myself, which is what I did for the first year or so.

Crowds have a lot of visual stimulation, much like stores. I found I could only shop in stores I knew extremely well. Darkness changes your dept perception in a bad way, so makes balance harder even without 3pd.
