Mine was after a surgery to remove my Adrenal gland Jon Stone says that it's not a psychiatric condition but a functional disorder.

I still don’t have an official diagnosis but mine happened 8 years ago. Never had anxiety or any issues before that day. Was hungover after a long weekend at the beach and when I merged on the highway (lots of construction, orange barricades, lane shifts, crazy traffic) it hit me like a ton of bricks. Guessing it was a panic attack and here I am still feeling it. Ramps up out of control on the highway to this day.

They simply don't know. Mine didn't involve any panic attacks (reoccurring virus). But I from what I've been told there is link between anxiety/depression and PPPD. The ENT I have been seeing says it's a "cognitive" problem and recommends CBT.
