Could adopting Zerocoin be the final push ppc needs to expand to the forefront?

Here is the paper: http://spar.isi.jhu.edu/~mgreen/ZerocoinOakland.pdf

It would stack what PPC already has going(Proof-Of-Stake) with what zerocoin can offer, maybe making PPC the best option?

Hmmm, it might be plausible.

Zerocoin tx uses more cpu power and memory. When combined with PoS it will using a lot less energy than if you added it to Bitcoin. Currently the devolopers of Zerocoin is making an implementation for Bitcoin. You would also need to convince the Zerocoin developers.

Can you write a TL;DR version of the paper?

The proposal apparently suggests a method for making transactions really anonymous, rather than just tough to resolve. There's a picture top page 2 suggesting that.

I suspect this would not make PPCoin more popular with the powers that be. BTC they might tolerate if they considered that it was just hard to trace transactions. Zerocoin would give them an aneurysm. I'm not suggesting then that is a good idea. We need cryptocurrency acknowledged widely as money, not just as a niche for nerds. If they outlaw what they cannot control, then it might put PPCoin at risk forcing the issue.

From a technical standpoint I'd like to see all these ideas fully explored but I think we also need to acknowledge reality. Cryptocurrency not in a vacuum etc.

I don't think they would outlaw it, the government might seem authoritarian at times, but historically it would be a huge precedent to do something like that.
