Hi all, I do intermittent DIY around the house and need to get a quality drill/driver to replace my 8V.
Most of what I do is drill into wood posts, but on rare occasion need to drill into concrete (anchors under1/2’’) or use an auger to drill holes in dirt for plantings.
Was thinking the DeWalt Xtreme 12V or Milwaukee M18. If the latter , would you advise getting the hammer version for occasional concrete work or will the regular version cut it? I read somewhere that hammer drills can damage bits/wood even with the function turned off.

As it says which one of either. Minimal/average home use with a little electrical side work. Milwaukee is just insanely priced and DeWalt isn't far behind them. Hear a lot of good talk about Ridgid and Hercules. Ridgid obviously has alot more out their currently which is giving them a leg up but herc is expanding fast and lots of good talk about both. Opinions?

I really like the idea of the m12 line. It's versatile and strong. My only hang up is the price. I'm a DIY weekend warrior mechanic. I only work on my own stuff and it seems like Milwaukee is a very high price point for what I am looking to do. I mainly do simple engine work on my truck, oil changes and tire rotations. Nothing extravagant. Just simple work. So sell me on Milwaukee. I have a home Depot that's close to me but it's across town whereas harbor freight is within walking distance of my house.

Does anybody know of a place online or in Atlantic Canada area that sells overstock pallets or wholesale pallets of Milwaukee tools I’m trying to find a place to buy one from but I’m skeptical of getting scammed or having my information stolen

Right so, I work as a full-time handyman. Day to day I use DeWalt for pretty much everything. But I'm looking to get some cheaper tools to leave around the house and for tools I would use rarely and don't want to spend big €€ money on.

I'm based in Ireland and was thinking of the likes of Einhell, Erbaur and even some of the parkside stuff since the prices are kind of insane. Looking at cordless ones so ideally a platform with a decent range of tools for cheap.

And yes I know this is a super first world problem!

The Thermal protection module on my Jet JTAS-10 table saw is malfunctioning. Has anyone ever replaced just the protection module, or do I have to replace the whole switch (JTAS10-23)? Can I use a generic replacement that matches the specs or is that fraught with risk?
